As a long-time fan of Denzel Curry, I must say, his performance on Jimmy Kimmel was nothing short of electrifying! The way he seamlessly blended his raw energy with the soulful melodies of “GOT ME GEEKED” was simply captivating. It’s not every day you see a rapper rocking sunglasses indoors, under dim lights, surrounded by disco balls – it’s like he’s straight outta South Florida!
Following the recent launch of his DSP album titled “King of the Mischievous South“, and with an upcoming, extensive global tour on the horizon, Denzel Curry graced the Jimmy Kimmel stage for a late-night rendition of one of the project’s popular tracks – “GOT ME GEEKED.
On Tuesday night’s performance, Curry’s R&B-infused cut took on a more heartfelt interpretation, with a backing ensemble of strings and horns enriching the piece. Curry mirrored the vitality of the band in his rendition, pouring emotion into every word of the nearly three-minute track.
He sings on the chorus, “I’m departing from this club while I’m not completely sober (yeah) / I’ve got a ride named Keke, and my drink (aye) / The Keke is perched on my shoulders (yep) / She claims she needs me, but I don’t want her, high, super high,” as he confidently walks across a dimly lit stage, wearing sunglasses and with disco balls scattered about the floor.
Watch the complete show up there and don’t miss out on Curry as he travels with Kenny Mason, Clip, and 454 in April. For a recap of the entire tour schedule, check it out here.
