As a devoted fan who has followed NCIS: Hawai’i from its very first episode, I must say it was a bitter pill to swallow when the news of its cancellation came out in 2024. The show became an integral part of my weekly routine, and the vibrant island setting, captivating storylines, and the incredible cast made every moment worthwhile.
2024 saw the end and cancellation of shows like NCIS: Hawai’i, and as the fall TV season commences, it remains difficult to accept this reality. Despite CBS attempting to find another network for Hawai’i following its termination, their efforts proved fruitless, adding to the sorrow. Vanessa Lachey bid a final farewell to Hawai’i, and in response to a fan’s post about the series, she shared a heartfelt message.
Amid the 2024 TV schedule, Vanessa Lachey took to her Instagram to repost a fan’s video showcasing the ladies of NCIS: Hawai’i, or the “femininomenon” of the CBS procedural. On her IG story, Lachey didn’t have too much to say about the video but wrote that the show has the “Best. Damn. Fans!!!”, and I can’t say I disagree:
When word got out that the TV show Hawai’i was no longer being produced, its followers, as well as the cast and crew, expressed their disappointment. Despite the abrupt ending on a cliffhanger, the executive producers remained proud of the series they had created. In response to this, fans initiated petitions and campaigns in a bid to keep the drama series alive, which many members of the cast have been aware of. At present, it appears that the show has come to an end, but the affection for it remains strong. What’s particularly touching is that the actress who played Jane Tennant noticed a heartfelt tribute and reciprocated with her own expression of love.
Vanessa Lachey frequently shares touching messages from fans and demonstrates how much their affection and encouragement matter to her. Following the show’s cancellation, she addressed her followers with a heartfelt message and emphasized a billboard symbolizing fan initiatives to preserve the series. Meanwhile, her fellow actor, Jason Antoon, jokingly criticized CBS, pointing out that NCIS: Hawai’i was slated as one of the top shows for the 2023-24 season, making the termination even more puzzling to viewers. To add fuel to the fire, the network continued to advertise the show in promotions, a decision that left fans frustrated and upset.
At the moment, it appears that the spin-off of NCIS won’t be returning, but it’s always good to keep a positive outlook. Meanwhile, Lachey is back on your screens with the latest season of Love is Blind. Although she and the cast seem to have moved forward, there’s still a chance that some of them might reappear in one of the other spin-offs within the franchise.
At minimum, it appears that the Hawaii-based series will forever hold a special place in Vanessa Lachey’s heart and undeniably in the hearts of fans too. With CBS’ postponed premiere week imminent, the reality of the show being canceled is becoming increasingly tangible.
Nevertheless, you can honor NCIS: Hawai’i yourself by streaming all three seasons with a Paramount+ subscription.
