Despite Monster Hunter Wilds suffering monstrous performance problems on PC, it still outsold the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in the US

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but express my excitement about Monster Hunter Rise, which dropped towards the end of February, receiving overwhelmingly positive feedback from almost everyone – except for PC gamers grappling with its nightmarish performance glitches. Regrettably, these issues have not deterred PC as the game’s most popular platform in the United States, at least for now.

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! According to Mat Piscatella from Circana, the US market launch of Monster Hunter: Wilds was off the charts fantastic. In fact, its launch week sales were the biggest for a game since Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 last October. To add to that, it ranked number one in weekly dollar sales across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles!

What stands out particularly is this: “PC was primarily dominant” in sales. The Monster Hunter series has traditionally favored consoles, with Wilds being the inaugural release that debuted simultaneously with its console counterparts. Interestingly, it appears that the new PC enthusiasts who joined in during the staggered releases of World and Rise were eager to dive into Wilds on the day of launch.

Each variant of Monster Hunter Wilds experiences suboptimal performance issues, with the PC version being the primary culprit due to the high number of players attempting to run it on less powerful systems. Upon its release, it received mixed reviews on Steam primarily because of these performance glitches. However, it has only recently managed to recover and now boasts a 60% positive response rate. Nevertheless, for most computers, it remains a significant strain on the GPU.
