As reported by Cricbuzz, Shah Rukh Khan and various team owners recently convened at the BCCI headquarters for discussions on whether to hold a mega auction in the upcoming Indian Premier League season.

It is said that Shah RukK, the owner of KKR, who had expressed opposition to the auction, allegedly engaged in a heated discussion with Ness Wadia, the proprietor of Punjab Kings, concerning the quantity of players each team could retain.

Shah Rukh Khan advocated for maximum retentions, contrasting the viewpoint of Ness who leaned towards fewer. Notably, Ness shares ownership of the Punjab Kings franchise alongside Preity Zinta and other partners.

Sunrisers Hyderabad owner Kavya Maran lends support to Shah Rukh’s KKR

The report added that Kavya Maran, proprietor of Sunrisers Hyderabad, publicly endorsed Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders. In an interview with the media outlet, Kavya expressed her viewpoint that constructing a team and nurturing young talent is a lengthy endeavor.

Decision pending with the BCCI

Before finalizing the IPL player rules, the cricket administration (BCCI) plans to consult with the IPL Governing Council. This was announced in a recent press statement.

The large-scale auction will decide how many teams can keep their current players. Furthermore, it’s been reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will disclose the regulations by the close of August.

In the Indian Premier League 2024, Shah Rukh Khan’s squad, Kolkata Knight Riders, clinched victory with an 8-wicket margin over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final match held on May 26 of this very year.
