Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta first crossed paths during his debut in the film industry. Despite being a newcomer in Bollywood, they didn’t hesitate to share their affection for one another, leading to their marriage. Interestingly, their low-key wedding cost just Rs 50, which is less than the usual price of a kilo of ladoos in India, as shared by Aamir Khan’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak co-star, Shehzad Khan.
1988 marked Aamir Khan’s electrifying debut in Bollywood as an actor. His first film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, was a blockbuster and one of the top-earning films that year. Interestingly, while he was working on this movie, Aamir secretly tied the knot with Reena Dutta without anyone knowing. In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Aamir’s co-star Shehzad Khan shared that their simple wedding cost just Rs 50.
The senior actor revealed in an interview that they found out about their wedding from other sources, and it was a simple court ceremony which cost only Rs. 50.
In a similar vein to what he did with Aamir Khan in Andaz Apna Apna, Shehzad Khan mentioned that he was meant to be a witness. However, as is often the case, he arrived late at the location and by then, the couple had already exchanged their vows and departed. Following their clandestine wedding, Aamir and Reena returned to their homes, marking the beginning of what would become known as Aamir Khan’s “wedding career.” Laughing, Shehzad added this quip.
Regrettably, following many years of marriage, the pair ultimately went their separate ways. Yet, despite this, they continue to maintain a warm and friendly relationship, having two children – Junaid Khan and Ira Khan.
During an exclusive chat with TopMob, the star of Lagaan revealed that as he and Reena were separating, they participated in marriage therapy for approximately 1.5 years. Despite his reluctance, his former spouse motivated him to undergo this therapeutic journey together.
