Did you know Aamir Khan declined idea of Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza’s Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na sequel? Here's why

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for cinema and its impact on people’s lives, I find myself reminiscing about the delightful journey of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Having witnessed its enchanting story unfold, I can confidently say that it has left an indelible mark on the hearts of countless viewers, including mine.

The movie “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na,” starring Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza, continues to have a devoted fan base. Fans eagerly anticipate Imran’s return, while some internet users speculate about a possible sequel. Lately, the film’s director, Abbas Tyrewala, disclosed that Aamir Khan discouraged him from producing a follow-up.

The romantic movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, which hit screens in 2008 and features Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza, has left a lasting impression on viewers. In a recent chat on the YouTube channel Cyrus Says, director Abbas Tyrewala shared that many young fans have asked for a sequel to this beloved film. In jest, he suggested that if they ever make a sequel, it might be called “Jaane 2.

After pondering over the potential follow-up, the director reminisced about the time shortly following Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, and then conceived an idea. Abbas admitted that he himself was unsure whether he was joking or not at the time. He shared his concept for the sequel with Aamir Khan, who promptly rejected it.

I handed over the movie to Khan and informed him that the story begins with Jay and Aditi living apart. They’re separated, and Jay develops an affair with Meghna. Aamir remarked, ‘I don’t give a hoot about who produces the sequel to Jaane Tu; it certainly won’t be you.’ He said this was the most idiotic thing, he chuckled as he remembered.

In his view, everything fell into place naturally, as he believed that after their romantic phase, Aditi and Jai might grow tired of each other. Eventually, he thought Jai would encounter Meghna and decide to be with Aditi instead.

“Jay and Meghna had a scene together, which led to Jay and Aditi parting ways. The story was meant to be about how they didn’t split. Aamir remarked, ‘Don’t ever mention this film again. I’m grateful you only directed one, don’t refer to it again.'” He recounted.

The movie “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” follows the tale of two close friends, Jai and Aditi, portrayed by Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza, who are unaware of their growing affection for one another. It isn’t until they help each other find romantic partners that they both come to understand their feelings towards each other.
