In 1998, Aamir Khan teamed up with Vikram Bhatt on the movie “Ghulam,” starring Rani Mukerji as the main character. Looking back at those days, the director shared stories from the set, particularly about filming the memorable train scene for the crime-drama. During this shoot, Aamir Khan put his life on the line.
In a recent chat with ETimes, Vikram Bhatt expressed concern about the action being risky and instead suggested using Visual Effects (VFX). Nevertheless, Salman Khan spoke to the train driver and requested a slow pace of 20 km/h, then disembarked from the track.
Vikram recounted the moment when the Meticulous One instructed the chauffeur to boost the speed up to 30 kilometers per hour, eventually reaching 40 km/h. Despite his discomfort with the proposition, he ultimately consented. What made this situation particularly striking was the danger inherent in this particular scene.
In an astonishing disclosure, the director shared a harrowing tale about Khan’s miraculous survival from a near-fatal train collision that threatened to end his life.
Bhatt stated that as the train moved towards them, it was traveling at approximately 40-45 kilometers per hour and there was no chance to bring it to a halt in time. Unfortunately, Aamir narrowly missed catching the train by a mere second. This was verified through our examination of the footage—Aamir’s shadow touched the pole, while the train’s shadow appeared 24 frames later on the same screen.
It seems Aamir might still have that roll of film. He nearly caught the train, but only by a split second. He appeared to be quite upset about it,” he continued.
As Bhatt strolled along nostalgic paths, it was only after the filming wrapped up that he recalled Aamir playfully mocking him during their journey home. Later, Aamir made a remark about the stunt in Sitaare Zameen Par, saying “If I were the director, I wouldn’t have allowed the actor to do this stunt.” This left Bhatt perplexed, and he was taken aback, asking him what kind of person he was. On a final note, Bhatt commented, “That’s just my relationship with Aamir.
In terms of his professional endeavors, Vikram Bhatt’s upcoming movie “Tumko Meri Kasam” has Esha Deol, Adah Sharma, Anupam Kher, and Ishwak Singh in significant roles. This film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 21, 2025.
