As a dedicated follower of Bollywood, I have had the privilege to witness the illustrious career of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan unfold over the years. From her humble beginnings with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya in 1997 to her most recent role in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: II, Aishwarya has captivated audiences across the globe with her charm and talent. Little did we know that she had a different Bollywood debut lined up – Hum Panchi Ek Daal Ke with Suniel Shetty. Unfortunately, the film’s release was thwarted by the arrogance of its director, Shashilal Nair.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who first entered Bollywood with Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya alongside Bobby Deol in 1997, has had a long career in show business that spans several decades. You might not know this, but she was originally set to make her debut in another movie and would have acted alongside Suniel Shetty. Unfortunately, the release of this film never happened due to the director’s overbearing attitude.
In a recent chat with Mashable India, director Rahul Dholakia disclosed that Aishwarya Rai’s debut film with director Shashilal Nair was Hum Panchi Ek Daal Ke. Interestingly, Suniel Shetty, another cast member, encouraged Dholakia to oversee the production of this unfinished project.
Reflecting on his set experiences, the director of Raees shared that the team aimed to secure an exceptional cast and crew for the movie. Moreover, Dholakia mentioned that he had suggested the action director from the film ‘Independence Day’ for their upcoming, unannounced project.
Rahul Dholakia elaborated on the challenges faced during the production of the movie. He recalled various “foolish occurrences” on set and disclosed, “The director’s overconfidence was quite extreme. Perhaps he was exceptional, but such behavior doesn’t fly in America.
In simple terms, the director of Parzania disclosed that Shashilal had planned to film an action scene involving large boulders crashing at the Grand Canyon in the U.S. Dholakia added that the director requested 1000 boulders for this sequence. However, when Raees’ director asked about how many takes were needed for this sequence, the former took offense.
In terms of her professional life, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her acting debut with Mani Ratnam’s movie “Iruvar” in 1997. That very year also marked her entry into Bollywood through Rahul Rawail’s film “Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya”.
Aishwarya is particularly recognized for her roles in films such as Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Josh, Jazbaa, Sarabjit, Jodha Akbar, Dhoom 2, Guzaarish, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and numerous others. In recent Bollywood productions, Aishwarya was most recently seen in the 2018 movie Fanney Khan, a musical comedy that also featured Rajkummar Rao and Anil Kapoor as its main characters.
Aishwarya is married to actor Abhishek Bachchan. The couple has a daughter named Aaradhya Bachchan.
