As an ardent fan who has followed Ananya Panday’s journey from her Bollywood debut, I must say, she never ceases to amaze me! From her vibrant on-screen presence to her unique off-screen quirks, there’s always something fascinating about this young star.
Actress Ananya Panday recently shared some of her beliefs, disclosing that she gets her ‘nazar’ (a belief in the evil eye) removed every week. Although she admitted not understanding the logic behind this practice, her house help carries it out at her mother’s suggestion. She also mentioned that before coming here, her mother applied two black spots behind her ear. Many people think she doesn’t bathe or has uncleanliness behind her ear, but her mom continually reapplies them.
In a Netflix conversation, she shared with comedian Raunaq Rajani, “Every week, I remove my nazar. The household help performs the pepper ritual. You’re familiar with the pepper ritual, right? So if the pepper smell is strong, it indicates there’s nazar. If the pepper burns intensely, it suggests nazar presence.
The distinctive traits of the Panday family were highlighted in the Netflix reality show “The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives” and in vlogs by Ananya’s cousin, influencer Alanna Panday. More recently, they made an appearance on Farah Khan’s YouTube channel, where the discussion revolved around superstitions once more.
In the video, Ananya expressed her faith in a superstition, but the other panelists didn’t concur. On Farah Khan’s latest video, the filmmaker stopped by the Panday household and inquired about Ananya’s father Chunky Panday’s absence. Bhavana, Ananya’s mother, clarified that he was having a protective talisman removed from him, which is known as “nazar removal”.
On October 4, 2024, Ananya’s newest film titled CTRL debuted on Netflix. This production, helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane, casts Ananya as a social media personality who finds herself embroiled in a mystery when her boyfriend mysteriously vanishes. The movie has garnered favorable reviews from both fans and critics.
Based on TopMob’s assessment, CTRL is a thought-provoking mix of thriller and drama that invites deep contemplation. Although it might not deliver shocking twists or the intense excitement you’d typically associate with such a genre, it still offers enough substance to warrant your viewing time.
More recently, she’s been featured in the Prime Video series titled “Call Me Bae,” which is jointly produced by Karan Johar. Before that, you might recognize her from the Netflix drama “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan,” a production shared by Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar. Coming up next, she’s set to appear in “Call Me Bae” season 2 as well as “Shankara.
