Did You Know? Dimple Kapadia would have left Dil Chahta Hai had Farhan Akhtar done THIS and every woman will relate to it

In 2001, Farhan Akhtar launched his directorial career with the release of the renowned movie “Dil Chahta Hai”. This timeless piece was headlined by Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, and Saif Ali Khan, while Dimple Kapadia played a crucial role. Notably, Farhan has recently disclosed a demand made by the actress for participating in their upcoming project.

At the WAVES Summit 2025, Farhan Akhtar shared an interesting dilemma he faced during his debut film, Dil Chahta Hai. Specifically, he discussed his uncertainty about how to address Dimple Kapadia, a senior actress both in terms of age and professional experience. Fearing that addressing her by her name might come off as rude, while calling her ‘Dimple aunty’ could potentially upset her, Akhtar found himself in a tricky situation.

In a different phrasing: When the actress from Cocktail entered the set, he didn’t address her by name directly. Instead, during their interactions, he would use phrases like “Ji ji, yes yes, okay okay, yes ma’am.” However, this practice didn’t last long as the actress soon picked up on it. Eventually, she inquired about why he wasn’t using her name, addressing the issue directly.

Around the third day, she inquired, ‘Why aren’t you using my name?’ I replied, ‘I’m unsure what to address you as.’ She retorted, ‘Make sure ‘Dimple auntie’ doesn’t slip out of your mouth, or else I’ll quit this project,'” he recalled with a chuckle, describing her as “an exceptional individual to collaborate with.

In the movie “Dil Chahta Hai,” Dimple Kapadia portrayed Tara Jaiswal. Akshaye Khanna’s character, Sid, developed feelings for her despite their age gap. This 2001 film is well-known for delving into themes like friendship, love, and relationships.

In his professional career, Farhan will soon feature in the movie “120 Bahadur.” This war-themed film is inspired by the Battle of Rezang La and will depict him in a military uniform. In this upcoming production, he takes on the role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC (Posthumous Victoria Cross), a prestigious military honor.

Under the direction of Razneesh Razy Ghai, this upcoming movie is financed by Excel Entertainment and will hit theaters on November 21, 2025.
