As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for Hollywood-esque storytelling, I must say, Govinda’s tale is nothing short of a Bollywood blockbuster. His journey from a 21-year-old signing 75 films to becoming a household name in the ’90s is a testament to his sheer talent and determination.
In the 80s, Govinda launched his acting journey in Bollywood and rose to fame in the 90s as a prominent star. At the tender age of 21, he originally agreed to appear in 75 films, but eventually withdrew from 25 of them. Did you know that Govinda managed to film a song for Hero No.1 near the Eiffel Tower in just 15 minutes? Abhishek Banerjee, a casting director-actor, recently shared the behind-the-scenes story of this incident.
In a recent chat with Lallantop, Abhishek Banerjee reminisced about an instance when filmmaker David Dhawan shared the story of how actor Govinda filmed a song scene in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris within just 15 minutes.
Banerjee recalled that director David Dhawan needed to record a scene around the Eiffel Tower, but he lacked authorization to commence shooting there.
“Govinda told him to turn on the camera, after which the actor danced along with the group for about 15-20 minutes, wrapping up the shoot, and then exited the set,” stated the actor from Stree 2.
Abhishek Banerjee stated that no actor could emulate Govinda’s unique style, and he doubts any other performer could match his achievements from the 90s. Expressing admiration for his professionalism, Banerjee highlighted that Govinda knew when to wrap up his work promptly.
To put it simply, the incident took place during filming for “Mohabbat Ki Nahi Jaati,” a track from the 1997 movie Hero No. 1. Karisma Kapoor was also part of this song. In one particular scene, Govinda and Karisma danced oddly choreographed moves in front of the Eiffel Tower. The crowd gathered around them to watch the performance on set.
Beyond being recognized as Hero No. 1, Govinda is also famed for films such as Coolie No. 1, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Swarg, Saajan Chale Sasural, Raja Babu, Rajaji, Partner, and numerous others.
Last month, Abhishek Banerjee appeared in two movies, Stree 2 and Vedaa. Unfortunately, these films were released on the same day, August 15, causing a box office clash. Stree 2 had Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor as its leads, while Vedaa starred John Abraham and Sharvari.
