The heartwarming film “Gully Boy,” starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, is adored by many Bollywood fans. It has received numerous accolades for its compelling storyline, impressive acting, catchy soundtrack, stunning visuals, and other aspects. Have you noticed that the movie doesn’t use blue as a dominant color? The director, Zoya Akhtar, disclosed this choice was made because she found the blue tarpaulin commonly seen on Mumbai rooftops unappealing.
In a recent Instagram video by Tiger Baby Films, Zoya Akhtar shared the reason behind omitting the color blue in the film Gully Boy. She explained, “We chose to exclude blue as a color from our art, representing the ubiquitous blue tarpaulins in Mumbai, which are quite an eyesore.
In simpler terms, Editor Nitin Baid explained that they extensively focused on this aspect throughout the movie’s production as it was something… they had eliminated blue completely from all scenes in the film.
As a diligent adherent, I’ve been meticulously sticking to the rule where, although the hue might be present, it’s always a subtle, almost imperceptible shade of blue.
In this musical play, Ranveer Singh portrayed Murad, a street rapper, while Alia Bhatt took on the role of Safeena. Siddhant Chaturvedi was cast as MC Sher. Other actors included Vijay Raaz, Vijay Varma, Amruta Subhash, Kalki Koechlin, and others. The production first appeared at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2019 and received favorable feedback.
According to a recent article on Filmfare, it’s rumored that a follow-up to Gully Boy may be underway with a fresh cast. A source has indicated that Arjun Varain Singh, the director of Kho Gaye Hum Kahan from Tiger Baby Films and Excel Entertainment, is involved in the project. Rumors also suggest that Vicky Kaushal and Ananya Panday are being considered for the lead parts. However, it’s important to note that there has been no formal announcement about this sequel yet.
