As a long-time admirer of both Shah Rukh Khan and Zayed Khan, I find their camaraderie and mutual respect truly inspiring. Their shared experiences on the set of Main Hoon Na serve as a testament to the power of mentorship and collaboration in the film industry.
In the film “Main Hoon Na,” Shah Rukh Khan and Zayed Khan showcased their acting prowess, leaving viewers spellbound by their performances. More recently, Zayed shared a heartfelt memory where SRK expressed his wish for his son, Aryan Khan, to grow up emulating him.
During a conversation with Subhojit Gosh, Zayed mentioned that Shah bhai often said on the mic, “I hope my son Aryan grows up to be like Zayed.” After a long time, I met Aryan again and noticed he’s become quite tough. SRK playfully suggested, “Fancy an arm wrestle?” to which I agreed. Later, Shah bhai approached and asked about me, and I pointed at Aryan and said, “He’s got the fire.” When SRK inquired about the nature of that fire, I replied, “The 440-volt kind.
During an interview on RiteBite Max Protein TV with Rohit Roy, Zayed shared insights about working alongside Shah Rukh Khan. He praised SRK for being thoroughly prepared and having a vast store of knowledge. Notably, Zayed pointed out that even though SRK’s acting was exceptional, he never made others feel intimidated to compete with his level. In fact, SRK would carefully observe everyone around him and always strive to give his best in response.
During filming, Zayed remembered an impactful instance when his character, lacking a father, spoke extensively with SRK’s character. This was his debut collaboration with Kirron Kher and SRK, under the direction of Farah Khan and managed by Manikandan on camera. Zayed acknowledged that he flubbed the scene three times, causing a noticeable decrease in energy, as if those present were beginning to doubt him.
Previously, Jawan actor had politely approached Zayed and suggested they rehearse lines together when Zayed was having trouble with a particular scene. Zayed accepted, and they went off to practice in a secluded room. Later, Shah encouraged him to execute the scene authentically, avoiding the stereotypical “dramatic” acting style often seen in films.
In his own words, upon returning to the filming location, Zayed expressed that he experienced a boost in self-assurance which led him to perform the scene admirably. Once the camera stopped rolling and the take ended, there was a moment of quietness, followed by applause from everyone on set.
