Dior Announces Pre-Fall Show in Ancient Kyoto Garden

Dior has made official that they will host their Pre-Fall 2025 fashion show in Kyoto, Japan, as part of their ongoing plan to stage shows in various locations worldwide, a strategy that previously led Dior to Seoul, Mumbai, and New York.

As a history enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that, according to WWD, the upcoming show will unfold within the hallowed grounds of Kyoto’s ancient To-ji Temple and Gardens on April 15th. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized since 1994, dates back to 796 and served as one of two “guardian temples” safeguarding the former national capital and imperial court.

The brand emphasized its commitment to the Asia Pacific region, stating in a release to WWD that the upcoming show will honor “the ardor for this captivating nation nurtured by Christian Dior and his successors”. This reflects a fresh phase where tradition meets innovation.

Christian Dior’s collaboration with a Kyoto-based silk workshop during the early 1950s is an often overlooked aspect of his story. This partnership led him to design several pieces for his high-end fashion line, incorporating Japanese fabrics into his designs. Maria Grazia Chiuri, Women’s Creative Director at Christian Dior, has highlighted this fact.

From a city steeped in generations of skilled artisanry, a special place where I can rekindle some creative conversations and showcase my forthcoming fall 2025 collection,” she went on.
