As a passionate film buff, I fondly remember Timothy Olyphant gracing the silver screen in movies like “Scream 2” and “Rock Star,” as well as captivating TV series such as “Justified” and “Deadwood.” However, during an interview, he shared his dissatisfaction with a guest role he played on NBC’s sitcom “The Office.” Regarding his character in the show, he expressed that it fell a bit short of his expectations, referring to it as “a slight letdown.
According to Cinema Blend’s report, Michael Olyphant recently appeared as a guest on Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fischer’s podcast “Office Ladies.” These two actresses played characters Angela and Pam in the series, and their show involves going over each episode of the series. Several cast members from “The Office” have made appearances in various episodes, and when it was Olyphant’s turn, he shared his experiences working on the series. Despite making it seem like an effortless job, his comments suggest that he may not be particularly proud of his role in the show.
In the scene with Steve Carell, I found myself unable to maintain composure due to its immense intensity and humor. There remains a hint of regret that I couldn’t control my laughter and present a more serious demeanor.
In the seventh season’s fifth episode, titled “The Sting,” John Olyphant portrayed Danny Cordray, a former colleague of Pam’s, who now finds himself in competition with her. He wasn’t just an uncomfortable barrier between Jim and Pam, but also served as a catalyst that pushed Michael Scott (played by Steve Carell) out of his office to demonstrate his sales abilities.
After they determine that they need to tap into Danny’s knowledge for his successful sales techniques, they organize a meeting under false pretenses where Michael proposes a job offer at Dunder Mifflin to him. However, Michael’s unusual move was met with disagreement since it was assumed that Danny would likely steal all the clients.
Reflecting on his time in the series, the actor found it an extremely enjoyable experience. Back then, he described his brief involvement in several episodes of “The Office” as follows: “I had a fantastic time. It was exhilarating to be part of it, and they were nothing but gracious. The show is so entertaining, with its unique vibe. The way they produce it is simply enjoyable and effortless.
Timothy Olyphant Was Only One of the Many Guest Stars in the Beloved NBC Sitcom
Although the series’ large cast made for enjoyable viewing in every episode, The Office also welcomed several notable guest stars, some brief appearances, and a few prolonged cameos that seemed longer than expected. Starting with Amy Adams‘s role as the “hot girl” in the season finale of the first season, it became clear that the show intended to incorporate such visits from prominent Hollywood figures.
In the series known as The Office, well-known actors such as Christian Slater, Tim Meadows, Conan O’Brien, Jim Carrey, Joan Cusack, Ricky Gervais from the UK version of the show, and some who appeared in multiple episodes like Will Ferrell, James Spader, Idris Elba, and Kathy Bates made guest appearances. The show went a step further by featuring real-life business magnate Warren Buffett seeking employment at Dunder Mifflin and interviewing for the vacant manager position.
