Disgraced Director Brett Ratner is Making a Melania Trump Documentary

As a film enthusiast, I must admit it’s surprising to see a return after such a long hiatus. Brett Ratner, once engulfed by allegations of sexual misconduct and assault from no less than seven women, seemingly vanished from Hollywood in 2017. His career appeared to be irreparably damaged, with Warner Bros.’s studio dropping him and halting all future projects. However, the tide seems to have turned. On a chilly January morning of 2025, I was taken aback by the news that Brett Ratner is making a comeback, this time directing a documentary on Melania Trump, former and potential future First Lady, for Amazon Prime Video. It’s intriguing to see how Hollywood can sometimes offer second chances, isn’t it?

Filming is now underway, according to Variety, and an Amazon representative stated that the movie offers a never-before-seen glimpse into Trump’s life. The First Lady will serve as executive producer alongside Fernando Sulichin from New Element Media. As filming continues, more information about the project will be released, with plans for distribution yet to be confirmed. We can’t wait to bring this one-of-a-kind tale to our global audience on Amazon Prime Video.

It seems that Ratner apparently enjoys close connections with Trump and it remains uncertain how he managed to persuade her to share her story with him, given his prior professional relationship with Donald Trump’s Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin, and reported affiliations with the Mar-a-Lago social circle.

Interestingly, the 2011 movie “Tower Heist,” featuring Ben Stiller, Matthew Broderick, and Eddie Murphy, almost bore the title “Trump Heist.” The plot would have centered around Trump Tower employees planning a heist on their own establishment, with Donald Trump reportedly approving of the project and frequently visiting the studio. However, for some undisclosed reasons, the creators decided to change the character into a fictional billionaire real estate tycoon instead. The as-yet-unnamed documentary is expected to premiere in the second half of 2025.

The Allegations Against Ratner Are Long and Disturbing

Before facing allegations, the film director had already achieved considerable acclaim in his career. He was known for directing blockbuster movies like the “Rush Hour” series, the third installment of 20th Century Fox’s “X-Men” franchise, “X-Men: The Last Stand”, and the prequel to “Silence of the Lambs”, titled “Red Dragon”. This film brought back Anthony Hopkins in his iconic role as Hannibal Lecter.

Subsequently, a Los Angeles Times article highlighted the testimonies of six women, among them actresses Natasha Henstridge, Olivia Munn, Jaime Ray Newman, and Katharine Towne. These women alleged that Ratner engaged in various forms of sexual misconduct, ranging from harassment to rape. The report also claimed that Ratner portrayed himself as a womanizer with extraordinary sexual abilities, particularly during the filming of Rush Hour 2, which several crew members characterized as a “highly charged sexual environment.

In another case covered by Variety, an employee at Endeavor Talent Agency claimed that Ratner took advantage of her when she was intoxicated at a nightclub. He then reportedly took her to the residence of Hollywood producer Robert Evans (where Ratner was residing at the time), and allegedly forced himself upon her. Similar to actions taken by Johnny Depp, Marilyn Manson, and more recently Justin Baldoni, Ratner filed a defamation lawsuit against the woman. Eventually, both parties chose to discontinue their legal proceedings.
