Disney CEO Bob Iger Teases Inside Out 3: I Would Love to See It

As a seasoned movie critic who has witnessed the rise and fall of many cinematic empires, I must admit that Disney’s current dominance is nothing short of breathtaking. With over three decades in this industry, I’ve seen it all – from VHS tapes to streaming services, black-and-white TVs to 4K Ultra HD, and the rise and fall of countless studios. Yet, Disney continues to defy all odds and set new standards for success.

It’s highly probable that we might get a third installment of the hugely successful film “Inside Out 2,” given its impressive performance so far. Although nothing is officially confirmed yet, Disney CEO Bob Iger has expressed his interest in making an “Inside Out 3.” The sequel is set to hit theaters on June 14, 2024, and it’s already breaking records as the highest-grossing movie of the year, having earned a staggering $1.5 billion at global box offices within approximately two months.

During an interview with Good Morning America prior to today’s D23 event in Anaheim, California, host Rebecca Jarvis asked Bob Iger about the possibility of an Inside Out 3. Although Iger was evasive, he did offer some glimpses into the future of the franchise.

Given my promise to keep the surprises intact, I’m eagerly looking forward to watching Inside Out 3 without revealing more details about it.

As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for some exciting news this weekend at D23! It’s tough to predict, but given the staggering success of the latest Inside Out movie, it seems almost unthinkable that Disney would wait another decade for a sequel. After all, the first film was followed by its sequel nearly a decade later, and considering the second one has been raking in the box office dollars, it only makes sense that they’d want to keep the momentum going. With Inside Out 2 still playing in cinemas, announcing the third installment now would be a smart move to milk even more success from the franchise. Fingers crossed!

Predicting a slight dip of approximately 10% in box office earnings for the year 2024 compared to 2023, it’s important to note that Disney is currently enjoying an incredibly successful run. What’s fascinating is that they haven’t even reached their peak yet. The standout films so far are “Inside Out 2,” which leads the pack, and “Deadpool & Wolverine” coming in a close second with an impressive $903 million earned during its initial release weeks. Although it’s uncertain if “Deadpool & Wolverine” will dethrone “Inside Out 2” as the top film of the year, this is still a significant victory for Disney, who also have another title in the top 10 list.

As a movie enthusiast, I can confidently say that the eighth installment in the Planet of the Apes series, titled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, has truly made a mark with a staggering earnings of $397 million. This blockbuster film, proudly distributed by 20th Century Studios – a subsidiary under the Disney banner – has been warmly received, earning a fresh certification on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive 80% score. With its success, it’s clear that we can expect more exciting chapters in this rebooted franchise.

Disney is not slowing down; they have exciting releases lined up, starting with the much-awaited sequel “Moana 2” in November and followed by “Mufasa: The Lion King” in December. Both films, particularly “Moana 2”, are anticipated to dominate the box office, wrapping up a fantastic year for Disney.

Looking forward to updates about “Inside Out 3”, it’s clear that Disney’s cinematic reign is set to persist well into 2025, with a lineup of exciting releases in the upcoming year. These include “Captain America: New World Order”, “The Fantastic Four: Initial Journey”, “Zootopia 2”, and “Avatar 3”. It’s safe to say that these films will undoubtedly rule the box office when they hit theaters.
