Disney Unveils Latest from Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm at Star-Packed D23 Panel

As a lifelong Disney enthusiast who has grown up with the magic of their stories and characters, I couldn’t help but feel like a kid again at the D23 Expo, where Bob Iger received a rockstar-worthy welcome that was nothing short of heartwarming. The energy in the room was electric as we gathered to catch a glimpse of what’s next from Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century.

Last Friday evening, Disney CEO Bob Iger received an enthusiastic rock concert-style greeting. Approximately 12,000 ecstatic spectators rose to their feet in a prolonged standing ovation when he began a massive discussion panel at the D23 event.

“Wow. That was more than a warm welcome,” Iger told the crowd, adding, “Boy did I miss you.”

Two years ago, I found myself taking a temporary hiatus during the grand D23 event – a platform where Disney unveils its exciting upcoming projects from Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century. Now, I’m back, returning home to this magical world, eager to witness the innovative creations that await us.

Every year, Disney is recognized for bringing out numerous top-tier celebrities. This year’s event has been relocated to the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, which means that there will likely be twice as many attendees compared to previous years. Before the event began, a cheerleading squad created an atmosphere of excitement, and fans were given light-up wristbands and envelopes adorned with magician David Blaine’s emblem along with a deck of cards.

As a seasoned event-goer who has attended countless events over the years, I can confidently say that this post is designed for those who want to stay informed throughout the event. The fact that it will be updated live during the event, which spans from 7 p.m. PT to approximately 9 p.m. PT, means that you’ll get the latest updates as they happen. So if you don’t want to miss out on any exciting developments or important announcements, make sure to refresh this post periodically. Trust me, I speak from experience – staying informed can greatly enhance your overall event experience and help you make the most of the time spent there.

Inside Out TV Spinoff

Pete Docter, head of Pixar Studios, celebrated the record-breaking success of this summer’s release, “Inside Out 2”. He expressed gratitude to fans for making it the highest-grossing film ever. Additionally, he announced some exciting news: a Disney+ television series titled “Dream Productions” based on “Inside Out” is set to premiere next year.

Avatar: Fire and Ash

Avatar mastermind James Cameron revealed the third Avatar film is called Avatar: Fire and Ash.

In his words about the upcoming project set to premiere in December 2025, Cameron hinted at an array of fresh cultures, environments, and beings that will unfold on Pandora, a planet largely unexplored. He emphasized that the new movie will offer unexpected yet delightful experiences for viewers.

Monster Jam

Not much detail emerged regarding the fresh endeavor, yet Disney Entertainment’s co-chair, Alan Bergman, graced the stage to unveil a movie titled “Monster Jam.”

Let’s design an interactive, entertaining, and engaging experience, which we’ll label as “a unique perspective from the world of these extraordinary monster trucks and their peculiar owners.”

Moana 2

In the upcoming sequel, Moana 2, Auli’i Cravalho and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had the audience on their feet with a performance of one of its songs. Johnson humorously commented, “Maui is singing again, using keys that don’t even exist! And guess what? My hair looks amazing in Moana 2!” He also took a moment to acknowledge his two daughters, aged six and eight, who were in the audience.

The movie serves as a follow-up to the groundbreaking 2016 release that’s frequently ranked among the top globally streamed films for numerous years. Originally planned as a Disney+ television series, it was eventually elevated to a big-screen production instead.

The audiences were shown an exclusive, unreleased trailer, after which Johnson passed the baton to Disney’s Bergman, referring to him as his ‘twin’.
