2025 signifies the 70th year since the establishment of Disneyland, and earlier, they unveiled delightful plans to celebrate this milestone, such as reintroducing beloved parades and fireworks, synchronized with the official festivities commencing in May. However, the celebration is far from over, as even more exciting events are being prepared for Disneyland’s actual birthday.

This morning, I woke up buzzing with excitement as Disneyland Resort unveiled their grand plans for the anniversary of Disneyland’s opening day, July 17, 2025. Among these exciting revelations, they announced a heartfelt tribute to The Sherman Brothers, a significant transformation of It’s a Small World that we haven’t seen in years, and the much-anticipated debut of a brand new attraction I thought was coming sooner!

It’s A Small World’s Iconic Song Is Getting A New Verse At Disneyland

Whether you adore it or can’t stand it, ‘It’s a Small World’ is undeniably a globally recognized tune, ranking among the most popular at Disneyland. A few years back, Richard Sherman, one-half of the songwriting duo behind countless iconic Disney tunes, penned a fresh final verse for this timeless melody.

After the recent demise of Richard Sherman, Disney officially revealed a new song segment to the public some months ago. Now, Disneyland has announced that as of July 17, the final part of this new song will be played within the attraction itself.

In a fresh tribute film dedicated to The Sherman Brothers, set to premiere on July 17, one focus will be the musical segment. Located within Main Street Cinema, visitors can savor the premiere of “The Last Verse“, which was initially unveiled during a special event marking the anniversary of Mary Poppins last year.

Enthusiastically, I’m thrilled as a dedicated fan of the Sherman Brothers, to witness these skilled successors being acknowledged in such a manner. Experiencing the film within Main Street Cinema feels like the perfect venue for a tribute to the Shermans. Re-experiencing It’s a Small World with the full song will be akin to riding it for the very first time.

There’s a chance that not everyone might appreciate changes to the traditional ride version. This modification marks the most significant alteration since the inclusion of Disney and Pixar characters, an update that has both its enthusiasts and detractors.

But the biggest thing coming to Disneyland on July 17 was originally meant to debut a bit sooner.

Alongside these changes, the Disneyland Opera House lobby – historically known as the home of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln – is set to be converted into a museum showcasing various artifacts and awards from Walt Disney’s life. These items will come from the Walt Disney Studio, Walt Disney Imagineering, and the Walt Disney Family Museum.

Due to these recent updates, it has been decided to postpone the premiere of “Walt Disney: A Magical Life,” a fresh show that temporarily replaces “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.” The controversial Walt Disney audio-animatronic will now make its debut on July 17, in sync with the new exhibits.

I’m equally eager and cautious about the upcoming Walt Disney audio-animatronic, and I can’t wait to check it out. However, it seems prudent to delay its unveiling until we can open all the new additions together. This way, we can honor Walt Disney’s words, “To all who come to this happy place, welcome,” by launching everything on the anniversary of the day he said them.
