Divergent Author Veronica Roth Hilariously Addresses Series’ Controversial Death, And I’m Living For All The Fan Comments

SPOILERS are ahead for the Divergent books. Proceed with caution.

In terms of upcoming book-to-movie adaptations, I fervently hope no other literary franchise suffers the same fate as Veronica Roth‘s Divergent series. From day one, numerous viewers expressed their dislike for the first film, and unfortunately, Lionsgate hastily produced the sequels, ultimately damaging the project. Fans of the books were denied the opportunity to witness the on-screen conclusion of the series as the final installment was never adapted. Although it’s been nearly a decade since the Divergent movies, the author has recently revisited the topic of her original ending and its reception by fans.

Veronica Roth penned the initial “Divergent” novel at only 21 years old, with the rest of the successful trilogy being completed in a short span of time. It’s funny to think that maybe the contentious ending of the “Divergent” series is something that Roth herself might have second thoughts about now, as we all often look back on our early twenties with some regrets. Here’s an amusing social media post from her:

The young adult novel created quite a sensation upon its release, and the devoted fanbase was left reeling when the female protagonist perished in the final book. Veronica Roth is addressing the controversy surrounding the ending via social media with a subtle wink, sparking various reactions from fans. While some claimed to have been deeply affected by the ending of “Allegiant”, others have grown to appreciate it over time. Continue reading for more:

Isn’t it amazing how many members of the Divergent cast have thrived and are now renowned figures in their respective fields? Shailene Woodley (Tris) has transitioned to both film and television, often expressing fond memories of collaborating with Kate Winslet. As for Theo James (Tobias), he’s set to appear in the highly-anticipated Stephen King adaptation titled The Monkey. It seems that fans of Veronica Roth’s cherished series are looking back on it with a sense of nostalgia, even if they were not entirely pleased with its somber conclusion initially.
