Due to Outlander taking a pause before its finale, the end of one series and start of another becomes possible on Starz on Friday nights at 8 p.m. ET. Following this, fans will find Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie, appearing just five minutes later at 9:05 p.m. ET in his debut as the charming Danny on The Couple Next Door without needing to switch channels. In addition, both Danny and his wife Becka (Jessica De Gouw) introduce their new neighbors Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and Pete (Alfred Enoch) to the concept of an open relationship on The Couple Next Door, but Heughan’s character as a traffic cop has a secret that adds a mysterious element to the show.
In this six-episode series, you’ll find hidden truths, persistent observers, a motorcycle with quite the star power, and a generous helping of intrigue. I assure you it’s a thrilling tale, but don’t expect Danny to be Jamie Fraser’s doppelganger, or either leading actress to mimic Caitriona Balfe’s portrayal of Claire. After personally viewing the series, I can confidently assert that I didn’t require a cup of tea to stay awake during the suspenseful plot of “The Couple Next Door”! As Heughan noted, his latest production is indeed quite distinct from “Outlander,” and will not be mistaken for “Men in Kilts,” Sam Heughan’s Starz travel series.
