Don Lemon Made A Bold Prediction About Matt Lauer, But This Isn’t The First Time We’ve Heard About A Possible Comeback

Matt Lauer was once a highly visible figure on television, particularly as the host of Today. Many people started their day with him. However, in 2017, his career took an unexpected turn when he faced serious accusations of sexual misconduct. To this day, there’s been no sign of a return for Lauer. Yet, former CNN host Don Lemon, who is personally acquainted with Lauer, believes that a potential comeback for Lauer could be successful.

Don Lemon thinks that Matt Lauer’s inability to return to work may be because of his prospective employers, based on how people react towards him in public.

Every time Matt is out in public or we all dine together, my spouse and I often join him and his partner for a meal. People seem to adore him, especially women. They frequently express their admiration, saying things like “Matt, oh my goodness, can I take a photo with you? I adore you, I’ve missed seeing you on TV.” It seems the general public holds him in high regard and misses his presence on screen, but it’s those within the industry who express apprehension.

I firmly believe that if Matt Lauer were to come back, he’d undoubtedly find success. The public seems to have a soft spot for him, and I think his return would spark considerable interest, leading to robust viewership figures for any new shows he might host.

It might make sense why employees within the company hesitate to give Lauer a chance, as potential backlash if he turns out to be wrong could heavily impact whoever made that decision. On the flip side, it seems Lauer still enjoys considerable industry support. Apart from Lemon, Lauer also maintains close friendships with Bryant Gumbel, which might mean many others would advocate for his return.

On the other hand, there’s some casual evidence suggesting that Lemon might not be completely right about his evaluation. It’s not uncommon to hear whispers of a potential return for Matt Lauer.

A little less than a year ago Us Weekly posted a headline to Instagram that also suggested Lauer was gearing up for a comeback. Nothing ever came of the report, or at least hasn’t yet, but it should be said that while there were a few comments on the post willing to give him a chance, the vast majority indicated no interest in seeing Lauer again.

It’s not unheard of for individuals like Matt Lauer, Louis C.K., or Armie Hammer, who have faced serious misconduct accusations, to try and make a return to public life. Louis C.K. is back on stage, Armie Hammer has an upcoming movie, and he’s hinted at receiving multiple job offers.

Currently, it’s uncertain if Matt Lauer has the desire to return. Should he make an attempt, we’ll see if Don Lemon’s prediction holds true.
