Donald Trump Puts Bruce Springsteen on Notice Upon Return From European Tour: “We’ll See How It Goes for Him”

In a recent post on his personal Truth social media account, President Donald Trump expressed his opinion that Bruce Springsteen is excessively praised and not particularly gifted, describing him as pushy, annoying, and downright rude. This comment came after Springsteen criticized Trump’s administration during the opening night of the E Street Band’s European tour in Manchester, England on May 14th.

Sleepy Joe appeared clueless about his actions, and Springsteen was described as ‘not too smart,’ unable to grasp what was happening around him, or perhaps he was simply oblivious (which is even more concerning!),” Trump wrote, alluding to former President Joe Biden. “This faded rock musician (his skin seems wrinkled!) should keep quiet until he returns to the country, that’s just common sense. Then we’ll see how things unfold for him.

On the kick-off of Springsteen’s 2025 European tour, he delivered a harsh critique directed towards the current U.S. president and the Trump administration. This concert, featuring Springsteen and his band, the E Street Band, took place at Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

During a break in the performance, Springsteen spoke to the audience: “Tonight, the powerful E Street Band is here to invoke the righteous energy of art, music, and rock ‘n’ roll during challenging times,” he declared. “In my homeland, the America I cherish – the America that has long stood as a symbol of hope and liberty for 250 years – now lies in the grasp of a corrupt, inept, and traitorous administration. Tonight, we urge everyone who supports democracy and the ideals of our American journey to stand with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism, and let freedom resonate!

The playlist encompassed 29 songs, several of them delving into topics such as American identity, justice, and community spirit. The performance began with “Land of Hope and Dreams,” concluding with a nod to “People Get Ready.” This was then succeeded by “Death to My Hometown,” “Lonesome Day,” “My Love Will Not Let You Down” and “Rainmaker,” which made its live debut for the first time and was introduced as being a tribute to our esteemed leader.

During the main performance, other songs played were “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” “The Promised Land,” “Hungry Heart,” “My Hometown,” “Youngstown,” as well as “Murder Incorporated” which was last performed in 2017, and “Long Walk Home.”

Additional songs featured during the show were “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” “The Promised Land,” “Hungry Heart,” “My Hometown,” “Youngstown,” “Murder Incorporated” (performed after a four-year hiatus), and “Long Walk Home.

Springsteen performed “House of a Thousand Guitars,” then moved on to “My City of Ruins,” “Letter to You,” “Because the Night,” “Human Touch,” “Wrecking Ball,” “The Rising,” “Badlands,” and finally, “Thunder Road.

The encore commenced with “Born in the U.S.A.”, then moved to “Born to Run”, “Bobby Jean”, and “Dancing in the Dark” (where band members were introduced mid-song), followed by “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out”. At this point, visual tributes for the late band members Clarence Clemons and Danny Federici appeared on screen. The performance ended with a rendition of “Chimes of Freedom”, a Bob Dylan song that Bruce Springsteen has not performed since his “Tunnel of Love” tour in 1988.

The concert in Manchester signaled the beginning of Springsteen’s newest European tour, with more performances planned on various locations throughout Europe in the upcoming months. His comments and musical selections are being made during the ongoing political discussions in the U.S. about the 2024 presidential election and Donald Trump’s resurgence in the political limelight.

In the earlier part of this year, Bruce Springsteen took part in the 2025 American Music Tributes. During this event, held at Monmouth University’s Pollak Theatre, he teamed up with Smokey Robinson, Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, and John Fogerty for a series of performances. This occasion was designed to honor musical icons and showcased various artists paying tribute and performing. Joining the honorees, Springsteen, together with Patti Scialfa and Steve Van Zandt, delivered renditions of timeless hits such as “This Land Is Your Land,” “Fortunate Son,” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.

Springsteen is set to perform again in Manchester on May 17 and 20.
