As a cinephile who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of action cinema, I can confidently say that Donnie Yen is an undeniable force to be reckoned with. With his impressive resume spanning from iconic roles in the Hong Kong martial arts scene to blockbuster appearances in Hollywood, Yen continues to prove why he stands among the best in the business.
In the pulse-pounding new trailer for this year’s suspenseful film, The Prosecutor, the renowned action movie star demonstrates yet again why he is a top-tier talent in the industry. As we eagerly anticipate the return of the Star Wars and Ip Man performer as the blind assassin Caine in the forthcoming John Wick spin-off, we can instead delight in watching Yen portray the title character, a prosecutor who employs his unique abilities to seek justice after discovering a conspiracy.
In the movie titled “The Prosecutor” (formerly known as “Misjudgement“), Donnie Yen takes on double roles as both actor and director, collaborating with filmmaker Ho-Pong Mak, who is recognized for his work in “Endless Battle“. The rest of the ensemble cast features Frances Ng from “Infernal Affairs II“, Kent Cheng from “Ip Man 3“, Julian Cheung known for his roles in “The Grandmaster, Modern Dynasty“, and Adam Pak from “A Guilty Conscience“. The plot of “The Prosecutor” promises an intense legal drama, reportedly inspired by a real-life case in Hong Kong.
An impoverished youth was falsely accused of drug dealing due to deceit. A former legal professional takes up the case investigation, exposing a conniving attorney group’s plot, and ultimately brings truth to light in the face of resistance from sinister elements.

Donnie Yen Is All Set To Lead His Own John Wick Spin-off
Donnie Yen has been a consistent figure in Hong Kong martial arts and action films over the years. Most recognized for his roles in series like Ip Man, Iron Monkey, Hero, Blade 2, Once Upon a Time in China II, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and numerous others, Yen has experienced a revitalization in his Hollywood career following his standout performance in the action film sensation John Wick: Chapter 4. Now, Yen will reprise his character Caine, a blind High Table assassin and past friend of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick, in a spin-off. Chad Stahelski, creator and director, has recently verified that work on the project is currently in progress, as he stated to THR.
We’ve got three exciting projects in the pipeline: an anime adaptation, a TV series, and a spinoff featuring Donnie Yen as Caine. Keanu and I are deeply involved in all these ventures, ensuring they stay true to the essence of John Wick. Whether it’s the pinball machine, the anime film, or the upcoming TV show, our touch will always be evident.
Prior to Donnie Yen’s return as Caine, the John Wick franchise is set to grow first with From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, scheduled for release on June 6, 2025. This film is directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten, with Chad Stahelski reportedly overseeing additional scenes after it was reported that Wiseman fell ill during production. Starring Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, Ana de Armas, and Keanu Reeves, Ballerina is a spin-off where John Wick, played by Reeves, will be seen again. The hitman is expected to have a significant action sequence with de Armas’ new assassin in the film.
