As a seasoned gamer with years of experience navigating the fantastical landscapes of BioWare’s Dragon Age series, I must say that In Memoriam in The Veilguard has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on my gaming journey. The eerie atmosphere of Dock Town and its enigmatic murders were a captivating blend of mystery and action that kept me hooked from start to finish.
Adventures within the Dragon Age: Veilguard series take you on a journey deep into the heart of Thedas, where In Memoriam masterfully portrays the haunting ambiance of Dock Town unlike any other composition.
In this investigation, we delve into a string of perplexing killings associated with supernatural entities in the town known as Dock. Here are some strategies for cracking these cases and locating the missing victims.
How To Solve The Murders & Find The Victims in Memoriam
Beginning at the Razikale Walk in Dock Town, you’ll find a corpse impaled by a sword.
Engaging with the physical form unleashes an unexpected onslaught of demons, among them a powerful foe known as Despondence. Given that Despondence is particularly vulnerable to fire, it’s best to employ flame-oriented assaults initially.
During combat, Despair occasionally shrouds the battlefield in darkness, making it difficult to see. Keep a close eye on it to avoid getting lost, especially when visibility is poor.
As a thrill-seeker, I can’t help but warn you about this chilling adversary. It hurls icy shards that follow your every move, making it crucial for you to dodge and weave to avoid getting hit by its relentless barrage.
The Glass Cannon modifier makes Despondence take a lot of damage but also lands powerful blows.
Stay aggressive, but be ready to back off after a quick hit to avoid counterattacks.
In this situation, using a heavy attack or series of moves is effective. So, seize the opportunity to launch a potent combination or magic, and then step back to regroup and adjust your positioning.
As well as Despondence, Shades will spawn to throw you off and sometimes outnumber you.
Should these Circles of Shadow surround you, promptly disperse them using wide-range attacks, preferably those that are fire-infused, for swift elimination.
This will allow you to keep your attention on Despondence without being swarmed.
As a gamer, I know I’ll find myself trapped if I overlook the shadows for extended periods. It’s essential to give them quick attention when needed, then swiftly return my focus to Despondence.
As you deplete Despondence’s health, watch out for its Exploding modifier when it’s defeated.
As Despondence nears its end, it unleashes a surge of power, causing destruction to anything nearby upon its demise.
To prevent being affected by this explosion, move back when its energy is almost exhausted. You can do this by attacking it from afar or landing the last blow from a safer position.
Following the defeat of the demons, a spirit with a compassionate aura emerges next to the lifeless body. It humbly requests your assistance in locating the remaining victims and revealing their identities.
Here’s the way to uncover all three victims and solve the mystery.
Solve the Bridge Murder (Victim 1)
After Compassion’s request, trace the red bloodstains from the body up a nearby narrow staircase.
Follow the path as it snakes upward towards a tiny structure at its summit. Upon entering, search for a diary sitting on the table, which discloses that the initial victim was a gardener named Hortensia.
Once again, compassion takes center stage as it is acknowledged for its role in resolving the initial homicide case. However, this revelation only uncovers the first crime; further investigation is needed to locate additional two yet-unidentified victims.
Solve the Temple Murder (Victim 2)
Investigating the second homicide takes you to the Temple of Andraste; more precisely, to a spot known as Andraste’s Vigil.
As you navigate winding temple corridors and ascend a steep flight of stairs, you’ll pass through an open area filled with columns. In this space, you’ll encounter the second lifeless body resting upon a wooden plank.
Examining the unfortunate soul will prompt an assault by a spectral entity known as Remorse. This malevolent being specializes in sapping vitality and utilizes frosty sorcery for its attacks.
Pursue Relentless Regret persistently, aiming to prevent its healing, by repeatedly attacking with fire to weaken it.
After overcoming the demon, Compassion resurfaces, urging you to delve deeper into uncovering the true identity of the second victim.
Trace the bloodstains leading from the wooden stage, near the Fen’Harel statue, to a compact worktable to discover the second casualty.
As I unfold this parchment before me, my heart heavy with the weight of unsolved mysteries, it reveals that the scholarly soul lost was none other than Marcus. The echoes of empathy confirm this revelation, and I am left with but one more enigma to unravel in this tale of blood and knowledge.
Solve the Market Murder (Victim 3)
For the last murder case, travel to the Urthemiel Venue located in Dock Town.
You can use fast-travel points to get there quickly. The blood trail here leads you around the big doors and eventually to a secret area with the third body.
Upon checking the victim, the malicious force called Isolation becomes evident. It employs attacks that thrust you away, momentarily separating you from your allies and interrupting synchronized combos.
The melancholic character of isolation lends an intense quality to this encounter, and, similar to other demons, it is weak against fire.
Hit it with fire to take advantage of its weak spots, and don’t let up until Isolation goes down.
After dealing with isolation, follow the blood traces leading to a wooden platform that has a ladder on it.
At the peak, you’ll discover a scroll on a box. This scroll, your last hint, suggests that the unfortunate individual was an artist.
Once more, Compassion expresses gratitude for your efforts, as they brought tranquility to the afflicted residents of Dock Town and unraveled the enigma.
You’ll earn 500 EXP, 200 Gold, 5 Fade-Touched Crystals, and a boost in your bond with companions.
Additionally, this task increases your favor with the Shadow Dragons, granting you greater sway within the game’s dynamics.
