Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D: How to Fly

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the ability to soar through the skies in Dragon Quest 3 Remake is nothing short of exhilarating! I vividly remember the days when we were restricted to land and sea travel, yearning for a bird’s-eye view of the game world.

Soaring through the skies has always been a captivating aspect in the Dragon Quest series, offering players the rush of gliding above the landscape. The Dragon Quest 3 Remake amps up this experience by introducing Ramia.

In Dragon Quest 3 Remake, you’ll discover a method to unlock previously inaccessible regions on the game’s world map by learning to fly. Here’s a simple guide on how to get airborne.

How to Fly

Early on in my adventure, I’ll be gifted a vessel by the King of Portugal. As a token of gratitude for this generous gift, I’ll embark on a quest to secure some elusive Black Pepper.

Navigating the seas opens up new destinations for you, however, it soon becomes clear that certain territories prove difficult to explore, especially those enclosed by mountains or hidden within interior lands.

Here’s the scenario: The six sacred artifacts, known as the Orbs, make their appearance here. Scattered across the globe, these priceless items can only be found with diligence and thorough searching in every nook and cranny.

The game teases their purpose, but the full picture comes together as you move forward.

They are essential in reviving Ramia, who will give you the power to soar through the skies.

After gathering the six orbs, make your way to the Shrine of the Everbird located on a distant icy isle southward from the Ibis Desert.

When you arrive at the shrine, twin priestesses will reveal how to awaken Ramia.

As a seasoned gamer, I’d say, “I’ve got to place each orb onto its designated pedestal surrounding Ramia’s egg. Once they’re all in position, a short cinematic sequence kicks off, awakening the mighty Ramia!

The Everbird will recognize you as its hero when it hatches and invites you to ride on its back.

Flying with Ramia offers freedom like no other mode of transportation in the game.

Navigating Ramia feels much like walking on foot or sailing a ship. You can easily steer her course through the world using the control stick (or WASD keys on a computer setup).

Instead of walking or sailing, Ramia offers the ability to change your height, facilitating more accurate positioning during landings.

As you descend, a guiding cursor emerges, assisting you in identifying the precise location for your touch-down.

Make sure Ramia remains stationary as it descends to maintain precision, since moving during the approach could lead to missing your target.

Here’s a guide to the buttons on consoles:

PlayStation

  • Adjust Speed: Press the button
  • Open Map: Press the button
  • Land Ramia: Press the button

Xbox

  • Adjust Speed: Press the A button
  • Open Map: Press the X button
  • Land Ramia: Press the B button

Although Ramia lacks the speed-boosting capability that the ship has, her capacity to soar above mountains and obstacles more than makes up for it.

This innovative travel method eliminates unexpected conflicts with enemies, allowing you to focus more on your mission and the environment.

Reaching Baramos’ castle can only be accomplished via Ramia’s flight, as it’s encircled by mountains and an inland lake, making other means of travel impossible.

Flying takes you to this essential place and reveals hidden spots across the map.
