‘Dragonite and the Postman’ Anime Film to Release on Pokémon Day This Year

Comix Wave Films has unveiled a fresh Pokemon anime titled “The Postman and Dragonite,” which is scheduled to debut on February 27 as part of the annual Pokemon celebration.

This anime is being produced by CoMix Wave Films, a studio renowned for creating critically acclaimed animated films like Makoto Shinkai’s “Your Name”, “Weathering With You”, and “Suzume”. Tasuku Watanabe, known for his work on these Makoto Shinkai productions, will be taking up the role of art director. The director, Taku Kimura, is an experienced industry professional who has contributed to various significant projects including “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” and “Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction”.

The script was penned by Kentaro Nana, with Evan Call responsible for the music composition. Notably, Evan Call has previously worked on the score for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and he also created the movie’s theme song, “Paper Plane.” This catchy tune will be sung by suis from yorushika.

Dragonite and the Postman” tells the story of Hana, a girl enamored with a Dragonite postman, who unexpectedly receives an undelivered letter. Accompanied by her companion Pokémon, Fuecoco, she embarks on a journey to locate the sender. Upon discovery, the sender is revealed to be a boy named Rio, who had penned the letter as a birthday gift for his father. However, it turns out that his father’s birthday had already passed, creating a sense of urgency in Hana’s quest.

Beginning at midnight Japan Standard Time on February 27th, the animated tale “Dragonite and the Postman” is set to premiere on YouTube through the official Pokémon channel. This gives fans a convenient way to enjoy the latest addition to the Pokémon story.
