Dungeon Clawler is a new deckbuilding roguelike where it's all up for grabs, quite literally, out now

  • Dungeon Clawler is out now on early access for iOS and Android
  • It sees you journeying into the depths of a dungeon while using claw mechanics to grab gear and loot
  • Play as a lucky rabbit whose paw has been stolen by the devious dungeon lord

As a seasoned arcade enthusiast who’s spent countless hours and quarters feeding the insatiable maw of claw machines, I can wholeheartedly say that Dungeon Clawler has managed to encapsulate the essence of this frustrating yet addictive experience into a thrilling roguelike adventure.

It’s not hard to argue that claw machines are overpriced, given their sluggish operation, frequent failure to grab the desired item, and the disappointing quality of the rewards relative to the cost. Yet, despite these shortcomings, they remain captivating, which makes Dungeon Clawler’s transformation of this concept into a roguelike, deckbuilding adventure quite fitting!

In the thrilling world of Dungeon Clawler, I find myself transformed into a resilient rabbit, one-footed yet undeterred. This misfortune, it seems, has provided an advantage to the malevolent dungeon master. But fear not, for I’m not about to surrender without a fight!

As you progress through the game, you’ll encounter a diverse group of characters and adversaries. You’ll also have the chance to experiment with unique and outrageous equipment combinations. Over time, you can improve your inventory, earning bonuses and special abilities along the way. The fun doesn’t stop there – Dungeon Clawler retains the unpredictable thrill that is characteristic of this genre, as each playthrough offers a fresh, exciting experience.

The Claaaw

The game Dungeon Clawler has been released in early access, which might seem uncommon for mobile games, especially when it comes to ports. However, considering no studio has successfully translated claw mechanisms onto touchscreens before, it’s understandable. Yet, Stray Fawn Studios could have a hit on their hands because, regardless of how exasperating they can be, everyone enjoys claw machines. Combining that appeal with its own unique RPG mechanics and more makes for an excellent blend.
