DWTS' Carrie Ann Inaba Reacts To Anna Delvey's 'Dismissive' Final Comment

As a seasoned gamer who has seen more reality TV than I care to admit, I must say that I found myself quite intrigued by the latest turn of events in Dancing with the Stars. The elimination of Anna Delvey during the Oscars-themed night was as shocking as her infamous scam story that graced our screens on Netflix a few seasons back.

The popular show “Dancing with the Stars” returns to ABC television (and can be streamed through Disney+) in the 2024 schedule for Season 33. The night themed around the Oscars was the first elimination round. One of the most contentious contestants before the season even started, Anna Delvey, was among the initial eliminations. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba expressed disapproval of Delvey’s behavior during the live performance.

The controversy surrounding Delvey as a DWTS contestant is due to the fact that she can’t be counted among the usual crop of actors, athletes, models, and reality TV stars, as she is in fact notorious as a con artist and convicted felon. In fact, in ABC’s press release announcing the cast for Season 33, Delvey is described as “Notorious ankle bracelet fashionista Anna Delvey.” After her elimination during the second episode of Dancing with the Stars‘ new season, she had a one-word response when co-host Julianne Hough asked what she’d take away from the DWTS experience: “Nothing.”

Contrary to some viewers’ enthusiasm, long-standing “DWTS” judge Carrie Ann Inaba expresses a different viewpoint. She shared her thoughts with Entertainment Weekly.

Regarding Anna, I was surprised by her response when asked about what she took away from being on the show, as she simply stated ‘I learned nothing.’ This remark seemed disrespectful towards not only the chance she received, her supportive partner Ezra during his first season, but also everyone involved in the production – from the dancers to those behind the scenes and the creative team. We all exerted effort to provide her a fair opportunity. I believe she may have overlooked this fact, which is unfortunate. A touch of gratitude could have shifted the storyline.

Carrie Ann Inaba expected a small token of appreciation from Anna Delvey, who gained notoriety for her scamming escapades depicted in Netflix’s series “Inventing Anna” last year. After expressing her desire to leave behind her “scammer” label, she managed to secure permission from ICE and was a hot topic during Season 33 of DWTS, even being discussed on The View. If you haven’t caught the instance where Inaba felt unappreciated in the latest episode of Dancing with the Stars, here it is:

Anna Delvey also took to her Instagram account to weigh in on her elimination with a message, a couple of days after the episode aired. In one of her Stories, she posted:

I’m deeply appreciative of all my fantastic fans who have the discernment to understand and enjoy my humor. I can’t get enough of your messages and shares! Keep them coming, as I express my heartfelt gratitude and love to you all!

Anna Delvey won’t proceed with her journey towards the Mirrorball Trophy on “Dancing with the Stars,” since she was among the two celebrities eliminated on Oscars Night. Tori Spelling, a former star of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” was also unable to garner enough votes to carry on. Interestingly, all three of TopMob’s Season 33 frontrunner picks by Mick Joest are still competing effectively.

Be sure to catch ABC every Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET for the latest episodes of Dancing with the Stars Season 33. Alternatively, if you have a Disney+ membership, stream the series there, or if not, you can find it streaming on Hulu as well.
