On March 18, 2025, the game titled “33 Immortals” will be available for Early Access, with Thunder Lotus Games introducing a fresh concept to the realm of roguelike games.
The studio famed for creating the heartfelt game Spiritfarer is venturing into uncharted territory with a high-speed, massively multiplayer title. This upcoming game draws inspiration from Dante’s Divine Comedy, placing players in the shoes of condemned spirits battling against divine verdict, all in an attempt to free themselves from the afterlife.
33 Immortals deviates from the standard single or small-team approach found in roguelikes by gathering 33 players for a collaborative, raid-style experience in an online setting. This game captures the thrill of MMO raids while maintaining fast-paced and accessible gameplay. The adventure kicks off deep within Hell, where you’ll navigate Torture Chambers and confront some of the most notorious mythological figures.
Instead of playing alone or in a small group like typical roguelikes, 33 Immortals brings 33 players together for a team-based, raid-style adventure online. The game combines the excitement of MMO raids while keeping the action quick and easy to play. Each game starts in Hell, where you’ll journey through challenging Torture Chambers and battle famous mythological characters.
In the game called 33 Immortals, each gameplay session typically spans about 25 minutes, providing a less intimidating alternative to lengthier MMO-style raids. The unique visual appeal of 33 Immortals comes from its hand-drawn 2D design, which takes cues from medieval religious art. This game’s creators, Thunder Lotus, have drawn inspiration from the time of Dante, creating images that evoke a sense of classic interpretations of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven.
33 Immortals’ Early Access debut will initially only be accessible via the Epic Games Store for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Immediately upon its release, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can dive right into the game. Over time, this title has undergone several beta trials, with Thunder Lotus refining various aspects based on player input.
With Early Access drawing near, the developers are fully committed to offering a thrilling and innovative cooperative roguelike gameplay.
