It’s been announced that Electronic Arts (EA) is set to close down their Origin app for PC users. This decision has left many PC gamers stunned, as EA was among the pioneers in creating game launchers. This event underscores the transient nature of digital media, emphasizing the importance for players to stay vigilant regarding these services.
As per the information on the game publisher’s website, the launcher is scheduled to close due to Microsoft no longer providing updates for 32-bit software. Fans are given until April 17, 2025, to download the EA app to secure their game collections. The company has promised that all games will be smoothly transitioned to this new application.
32-bit gamers must upgrade to 64-bit systems because EA’s app is now only available in 64-bit format. Although the Origin service is phasing out, players can retain their games, which is beneficial. However, since the launcher is due to close soon, fans may want to take additional steps to ensure they have these games permanently.
From the language used, it appears this could be a rebranding of the launcher, as all functions seem to be shifting to the EA app. Change can often be unsettling for fans who are comfortable with established routines, so this might bring new experiences for everyone. However, t The Veilguard.
The Origin platform made its debut as far back as June 2011, which means it’s had over a decade in operation. Though it may not have been everyone’s preferred launcher, particularly for those utilizing Steam or Epic Games, this shift is still significant. Here’s hoping this change doesn’t bring about any major issues and instead leads to the release of some excellent games from the company.
