The distributed, self-governing entity known as Open Campus, which specializes in creating a blockchain-based educational network, has officially deployed its EDU Chain mainnet on Arbitrum’s orbit.
The EDU Chain on Arbitrum’s (ARB) Orbit, a blockchain dedicated to education-oriented decentralized apps and EduFi, has rapidly taken the top spot as the leading Layer 3 chain, boasting over $150 million in total value locked, as reported by L2beat.
According to a statement sent to crypto.news, the total value locked (TVL) in the blockchain encompasses funds contributed by Open Campus’s treasury as well as those provided by liquidity suppliers who transfer their assets to the platform.
During the test stage, EDU Chain handled approximately 86.2 million transactions and attracted around 358,684 distinct active digital wallets. Currently, there are 47 decentralized applications (dApps) operational on the test network, with several developers readying to launch their projects on the main network.
Open Campus’s initiatives
To spur the creation of decentralized applications (dApps), Open Campus (EDU) has initiated two programs. One is a continuous hackathon series offering a total prize pool of $1 million, that’s already garnered interest from numerous developers numbering in the thousands.
The second endeavor, named the Open Campus Incubator, offers a 12-week plan tailored to aid hackathon victors in expanding their winning projects. Through this program, participants can tap into grant funds, potential investments from venture capital, and tools for development within the EDU Chain platform.
Furthermore, they launched the initial season of their Yuzu Points incentive scheme. Users can accumulate Yuzu Points by engaging with dApps on the mainnet, and these points trigger the emission of EDU tokens. Open Campus has set aside a potential 150 million EDU tokens for this reward system.
Positioning EDU Chain at the forefront of blockchain education, it integrates decentralized financial systems, interactive learning experiences, and robust developer resources to nurture innovative advancements in online education using blockchain technology.
