With the launch of the stage 3 mainnet, EigenLayer has added six new actively validated services (AVSs) to its platform: AltLayer, Brevis, Eoracle, Lagrange, WitnessChain, and Xterio. These new AVSs expand the EigenLayer ecosystem beyond its initial service, EigenDA. All of these new services will be secured through the process of restaking.
In simpler terms, these AVSs (Application Verification Systems) offer diverse features to cater to various requirements within the Ethereum community. For instance, Lagrange and AltLayer focus on enhancing Ethereum rollups by supplying light client capabilities and quicker confirmation rates respectively. Meanwhile, Eoracle serves as the first oracle network specifically designed for Ethereum, built on EigenLayer, facilitating seamless integration into decentralized applications.
Brevis is developing “coprocessors” on EigenLayer, focusing on providing efficient computational resources for operations that require stateless computations. The introduction of these services follows the mainnet rollout of EigenLayer and its data availability layer, EigenDA, earlier this week.
Before implementing in-protocol payments and slashing on the mainnet later this year, EigenLayer had mentioned that it would first enable the operator and AVS marketplace to grow and become stable. Currently, the total value secured in EigenLayer is over $15 billion.
With this expansion, EigenLayer enters a new stage in its journey, as the introduction of these Advanced Verification Systems (AVSs) is anticipated to boost both the size and functionalities of the Ethereum network.
