When filmmaker Prakash Jha invited Bobby Deol for his series Ek Badnaam Aashram, he felt excited. The actor subsequently met him and anticipated that he’d be given a part as a police officer after listening to the story. However, when offered to play the main role of Baba Nirala, Deol was taken aback.
In conversation with ANI, the actor known as Animal mentioned that he’s open to taking on various roles. Similarly, Bobby expressed a desire to explore characters beyond his usual comfort zone. However, he admitted, “In this field, often an actor’s image becomes established over time.
Deol added, “I assumed he (Prakash Jha) would give me a cop role, but when he said, ‘You will portray the character of Baba,’ I was taken aback.
In the conversation, veteran actor Bobby Deol expressed that the renowned director had faith in him and provided the role he desired. He gratefully declared, “I’ve been blessed! I received such an engaging character.” Further, he shared it was an exceptional journey and his fellow cast members did a commendable job in ensuring the series became a triumph.
At present, Darshan Kumar is portraying the character of Sub-Inspector Ujagar Singh within the series. The show is helmed by director Jha, and it includes Aaditi Pohankar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Vikram Kochhar, Tridha Choudhury, Anupriya Goenka, Rajeev Siddhartha, and Esha Gupta in significant roles.
