Aaditi Pohankar gained widespread recognition due to her powerful performances in series such as She and Ek Badnaam Aashram, making her a familiar name in homes across the country. Despite auditioning for various roles, including one in the film Dangal led by Aamir Khan, she was unsuccessful. However, years later, the training she undertook to portray wrestlers proved beneficial when shaping her character in the TV series starring Bobby Deol. In an interview, she revealed that this experience broadened her understanding of numerous aspects. Here’s more!
In a conversation with ETimes, Aaditi Pohankar discussed missing out on being cast in Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Instead of dwelling on it negatively, she explained that learning from such experiences is often beneficial for the future or finds an eventual application somewhere. Remarkably, this proved true for her and the sports-themed movie as well.
To nail the blockbuster success, she mastered the Haryanvi dialect, delved into the psyche of wrestlers, and gleaned priceless knowledge. Despite portraying a young wrestler in Ek Badnaam Aashram, her character is strikingly unique. Yet, that past experience turned out to be indispensable and incredibly beneficial for her.
In the conversation, she shared her joy about utilizing the skills learned from Dangal in the well-known web series, as it no longer leaves her with an unmet desire for application. “That encounter provided me with a new outlook on numerous aspects—on my identity as an athlete, as an actress, and the resilience needed to tackle demanding roles,” Aaditi expressed.
Regarding Prakash Jha’s crime thriller, she expressed that it felt like working on four movies simultaneously because of the need to fight, train, and deliver intense performances all at once. This multi-tasking experience, she believes, significantly impacted her career. Now, let’s discuss Ek Badnaam Aashram, a crime drama web series initially released on an OTT platform in 2020. After a successful run for several years, the third season’s second part was recently broadcasted on MX Player.
In addition to Aaditi and Deol, the series also includes performers such as Darshan Kumar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Tushar Pandey, Anupriya Goenka, Adhyayan Suman, and numerous others. Pohankar takes on the character of Pammi, a wrestler who appears to be drawn to Baba Nirala and his ashram.
