Elden Ring Nightreign Revenant Class Guide

The Nightreign’s Revenant class from Elden Ring is the final one you unlock and is known for being quite difficult to master. She specializes in magic but lacks the ability to consistently cast spells, making her an arcane character that struggles with weapons like katanas that rely on dexterity. However, she excels as a summoner, capable of significantly boosting her team’s performance in close combat under the right conditions. Managing the Revenant can be tricky, but with careful customization, you can still make her an effective fighter even without an optimal build.

How to unlock the Revenant

After successfully overcoming the Night Lord for the first time and gaining access to the Duchess, The Revenant will appear at an indeterminate point. However, consistently completing expeditions, whether solo or with others, regardless of their outcomes, will eventually lead to her arrival at Roundtable Hold. Remember to check your map following each expedition. If you spot an exclamation mark outside the main hall, that’s where The Revenant will be waiting for you.

Before engaging in conversation with the Revenant within the hold, switch your playing character to someone other than the Recluse. Once prepared, interact with her, which will transport you to a spectral location among ruins. The Revenant will be present here along with her summoned forces, initiating a battle challenge. You’ll likely need to defeat at least one of her swordswoman or Pumpkin Head summons prior to attacking the Revenant directly due to their powerful assaults. During the confrontation, she’ll hurl Discus of Light spells your way, and her Giant Skeleton summon will unleash a ghostflame beam.

This version attempts to maintain the original meaning while simplifying complex language for easier comprehension.

Managing these challenges becomes more straightforward when you choose to play as either the Raider or Executor. These characters boast high damage potential and strong ultimate abilities. The Executor, in particular, excels at performing a perfect guard more effortlessly, thereby minimizing damage received while conserving much of their stamina.

Once you defeat the Revenant, you end up back in Roundtable Hold with her as your new ally.

Revenant abilities and spirit summons

Among the characters in Nightreign, The Revenant stands out as she is constructed to continuously summon spirits instead of specializing in a particular combat style. To begin with, she wields claws that have a higher probability than usual of causing critical damage, but they are effective only at close range. Additionally, The Revenant possesses an incantation for healing, although there’s no inherent method for her to regenerate FP (Focus Points), so use it judiciously.

Necromancy

  • The spirits of non-boss enemies that the Revenant defeats join her in combat

Summon Spirit

  • In the game, The Revenant has the power to call upon one out of three spectral beings whenever desired, then send them away to bring forth a new one. Once the summoned entity’s vitality runs out, it disappears and won’t reappear until its health points begin to recover again.

    • Helen, a swordfighter
    • Frederick, a Mad Pumpkin-Head
    • Sebastian, a Giant Skeleton

Immortal March

  • The Revenant makes all allies immortal for a few seconds. A glowing ball of ghostflame at the center of each character indicates the effect is active. The ultimate also revives downed allies if they’re nearby.

Best spirit summons

Instead of relying on Sebastian to handle the tough tasks, it’s generally wiser to choose someone else except for situations involving mobs. Unlike Helen and Frederick, Sebastian tends to stay put more, making him an exposed target for swift and powerful adversaries. Furthermore, he finds it challenging to keep pace with mobile bosses, requiring you to resummon him often just to bring him within striking distance.

As a gamer, I find that Frederick strikes an ideal balance when it comes to tackling bosses. He’s got the mobility of Helen, which is great for dodging attacks, and he deals a high amount of damage too. However, Helen isn’t always effective at keeping bosses occupied, especially against tougher opponents where she usually doesn’t last long enough to make a significant impact.

Best weapons, magic, and Incantations for Revenant

In simpler terms, The Revenant performs admirably when it comes to faith and magic (arcane or intelligence), coming in a close second place. Other attributes don’t seem as effective, leaving her in an unusual position. While The Revenant can manage with a weapon that depends on strength or dexterity, the outcomes are less favorable compared to using abilities that align with its strengths.

In a nutshell, Nightreign boasts a selection of potent weapons imbued with faith, ranging from the Erdtree Dagger to the formidable Sword of Night and Flame. Although small in stature, she can handle larger weapons such as axes or greatswords quite well due to her robust health. In an ideal scenario, you might equip her with powerful weapons like Maliketh’s Black Blade or Grafted Dragon Head if you’re fortunate enough to obtain them through lucky drops. However, she also performs admirably with the Magma Whip Candlestick, Halo Scythe, and Winged Scythe.

If nothing else works, provide her with any spells or mystic arts you can locate, as well as a weapon that inflicts bleeding. A “Rivers of Blood” weapon would be suitable too due to its strong arcane scaling.

In my gaming experience, when it comes to Incantations for the Revenant, it’s all about making do with what you’ve got from magic and Incantation drops. Unlike the Recluse, the Revenant doesn’t have any specific prerequisites, so whether you’re stacking multiple types of lightning spear or mixing dragon breath and fire spells, it’s not a big deal. However, keep in mind that you shouldn’t rely exclusively on Incantations because the Revenant doesn’t have a native method for recovering Focus Points (FP). Instead, you’ll need to use Starlit Shards or random passive buffs to restore her FP.

Best relics for Revenant

In the game you’re playing, The Revenant primarily thrives on Faith, so it’s beneficial to use relics that boost this attribute. Additionally, mind buffs can be useful because they enhance her maximum Focus Points (FP). Furthermore, The Revenant also gains advantages from increased intelligence and arcane attributes after focusing on Faith and FP improvements.

Among the valuable items you can count on finding, one comes from a merchant located at the Roundtable Hold, while another is earned after successfully completing the initial Remembrance of a Revenant.

Grand Drizzly Scene

  • [Recluse] Causes ghostflame explosion upon activating ultimate art
  • +2 faith
  • +2 arcane

Small Makeup Brush

  • [Revenant] Power up when fighting alongside family (spirit summons)
  • Increased Rune acquisition for self and allies

In your adventure, there’s a good possibility of finding a Luminous Scene gem which boosts both mental and lightning abilities. While it isn’t certain that you’ll get a Lightning Spear or other lightning-themed spells during any expedition, these are some of the items you’re most likely to come across.
