Elden Ring’s new content and Nintendo Switch 2 release could be coming soon – the Tarnished Edition was just rated by the ESRB

The rated Elden Ring’s Tarnished Edition indicates that the highly anticipated open-world RPG could soon be available on Switch 2, and it seems we might get a launch or release date announcement very soon.

The ESRB rating for The Switch 2 Tarnished Edition aligns with its current counterpart, as expected, since both versions are M-rated. This new rating also offers an additional chance to scrutinize the ESRB’s synopsis of the game’s storyline without any hands-on interaction.

In simpler terms, this game is a role-playing experience where you take on the character of someone seeking a mystical ring to ascend as the Elden Lord, as the Entertainment Software Rating Board has classified it.

Instead of saying “I mean, kind of?”, you could use “In other words,” or “To put it another way.”

“Instead of the Elden Ring being just a game about sitting on the throne, or completing side quests for Ranni to get a magic sword, or setting the world ablaze to prevent Marika from self-immolation, it seems to be a blend of these elements. Everyone has their own interpretation.

As an avid Elden Ring player with over 250 hours under my belt (and its DLC), I’m still left scratching my head about this ESRB reference: “Throughout the game, a humanoid monster is shown partially nude, adorned with scales and scars across its chest and lower body.” It’s hard to believe those gooey, stretchy lizard-like creatures in the lava fortress required such a disclaimer.

This line, however, I understand perfectly: “The word ‘sh*t’ appears in the dialogue.”

For a while now, Elden Ring has been included in the lineup of anticipated games for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2. During the Nintendo Direct event in April, it was officially unveiled, but further details about the Tarnished Edition weren’t disclosed until later. This special edition includes new character classes, armor, weapons, and more that all Elden Ring players can enjoy. However, only those with the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 console will have the unique experience of seeing the Elden Ring title alongside Mario’s face on their home screen UI, a sight that will surely be a delight for fans of both franchises.
