Among all actors who have been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Elizabeth Olsen‘s character development has been the most intriguing to follow. Initially appearing as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and with a brief post-credit scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Olsen didn’t initially commit to a long-term contract for multiple MCU projects. Instead, she has shared that her return was always due to having more compelling stories to tell about Wanda. To date, Olsen has featured in five MCU films and the miniseries WandaVision, making her one of the most cherished performers within the MCU. After the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it appeared that her role as the character had ended, but Olsen has expressed a willingness to reprise her part.
In conversation with Collider, the actress was inquired about her long-term role as The Scarlet Witch. As usual, Olsen expressed her appreciation for having the chance to embody the character for over a decade. She additionally mentioned that she’d jump at the chance to reprise the role if given the opportunity.
It’s quite extraordinary and amazing, similar to what one might experience if they could work on a TV series for an extended period. The opportunity to revisit a character and further develop them has meant a great deal to me, especially since they allowed me to explore the unique world of WandaVision and take it to new heights. Following that, the role of Doctor Strange was just as unpredictable and thrilling. I consider myself fortunate to have portrayed a character for over a decade of my life, and I’m eager to continue this journey.
The Scarlet Witch’s Fate in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Was Left Uncertain
When an actress as gifted as Elizabeth Olsen is involved, you find ways to keep such talent on board, even when it seems her character might have suffered a permanent demise. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, every indication suggested that the story of the Scarlet Witch was drawing to an end as she spiraled into madness while trying to reconnect with her sons Billy and Tommy following the world she created in WandaVision. Despite being a major antagonist, the character showed her humanity when she mourned the lives she had disrupted for her own benefit and destroyed Darkhold Castle along with herself. The destruction left many assuming she perished under the rubble, but a hint of red, symbolizing her magical powers, was seen just before the collapse, leading some to speculate that we haven’t yet seen the last of this character.
Beyond doubt, there are many tales yet untold about Wanda, given her transformation into a heroine who has embraced the consequences of her previous deeds. Since we’re in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, if they decide on a method to resurrect her, they will undoubtedly find one. Elizabeth Olsen, a devoted soldier in the Marvel world, has proven herself as one of its standout actors, even with minimal screen time. The actress infuses Wanda with remarkable layers and complexity, which fans are eager to witness again.
