Ellen Pompeo‘s Natalia Grace-inspired Hulu series has released its first look and premiere date.

Starting this March 19th, the highly anticipated eight-part miniseries titled “Good American Family” is set to debut on Hulu. The first two episodes will be aired, with new episodes being released every week until the series concludes.

Kick off your calendars! Beginning March 19th, the much-awaited eight-episode limited series “Good American Family” is coming to Hulu. The premiere will feature two episodes, followed by a weekly release schedule until the end of its broadcast.

The announcement of the new show happened during summer 2022, leading Pompeo to reduce her acting role on ABC’s long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy to focus on starring in and producing Good American Family, a project that was then referred to as an orphan series for the streaming platform.

As a gamer, I’ve stepped back a bit from my weekly voiceover narration in “Grey’s”, but I still lend my presence as Meredith Grey, and with the added bonus of being an executive producer. With the final wrap of “Good American Family”, I’m ready to dive deeper into my on-screen role for season 21, premiering March 6 on ABC.

The American Drama based on Natalia Grace’s Life Story is a portrayal of the real events in Natalia Grace’s life. Known for having a rare type of dwarfism called spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, her name has been widely recognized due to her story being shared over three seasons of the true crime docuseries Intriguing Mystery of Natalia Grace. The series ended in January after delving into how Natalia, who was legally proven to be 21 years old, suffered abuse at the hands of two adoptive families before starting anew with a new family, Vincent and Nicole DePaul.

In this captivating drama titled “Good American Family“, we delve into various perspectives, examining themes of bias, perception, and trauma. The narrative unfolds around a Midwestern couple who adopt a girl with an unusual form of dwarfism, living alongside their biological children. However, as they progress in her upbringing, doubts arise about her age and background, leading them to suspect she might not be who she claims to be. As they strive to protect their family from the daughter they now view as a danger, she embarks on a personal struggle to uncover her past and secure her future. This intense conflict unfolds in the glare of tabloids and courtroom proceedings.

Besides Pompeo, the lead actor Mark Duplass and Imogen Reid, Dulé Hill, Christina Hendricks, Sarayu Blue, and Jenny O’Hara appear frequently as special guests in the series.

The television series titled “Good American Family” has been developed by its executive producer, Katie Robbins, who works alongside another executive producer, Sarah Sutherland, as co-showrunners. Pompeo serves as an executive producer through her production company Calamity Jane, with Laura Holstein. Additionally, Andrew Stearn, Dan Spilo, Niles Kirchner, and Mike Epps also act as executive producers. The pilot episode is directed and executive produced by Liz Garbus.
