Elliot Page Says He’s Incredibly “Angry and Frightened” Amid Anti-LGBTQ Legislation Across U.S.

As a gamer and an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, I can’t help but feel deeply saddened, angry, and frightened by the surge of anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ legislation that has been spreading across the country in recent years. Elliot Page‘s brave appearance on The View, where he discussed this issue with such eloquence and passion, really resonated with me.

Elliot Page shares his thoughts publicly on the surge of discriminatory laws against transgender people and the LGBTQ community that have emerged in various parts of the country over the past few years.

On Friday, a star from “The Umbrella Academy” appeared on “The View.” During their conversation, they talked about the upcoming last season of the Netflix series, his memoir titled “Pageboy,” and his stance against discriminatory LGBTQ laws. Co-host Ana Navarro inquired about his feelings towards such legislation and suggestions for those wishing to support the community.

Page confessed that he felt deeply saddened, angry, and fearful regarding the situation, particularly after the Republican National Convention during which various political figures expressed anti-LGBTQ views publicly.

“During her appearance on the daytime talk show, Page expressed her concern about the widespread misconceptions and outright falsehoods concerning the trans community. She noted that many people are unaware or underinformed about trans individuals’ lives and identities, leading to a great deal of inaccurate information being circulated.”

I strongly believe that every individual has the power to educate themselves about the experiences of transgender people and youth. Listening to their stories is a crucial step towards understanding their struggles and supporting them in their journey. I’ve heard from many parents who found themselves in difficult situations, some even had to leave their homes due to discrimination or fear of losing custody of their trans children. These families have been doing everything they can to provide love and acceptance for their kids, only to face the threat of being torn apart by laws that don’t understand or validate their identities. It’s essential that we stand with them and amplify their voices, ensuring they are heard and their rights respected.

As a person who has had the privilege of watching some truly enlightening media and reading insightful literature, I wholeheartedly recommend the following resources for those seeking to expand their knowledge on transgender issues and history.

Before taking a break for advertisements, Navarro emphasized to viewers, “If you identify as an ally, avoid voting for individuals who may cause harm to their friends.”
