Elton John Reveals He Has “Been Dealing With a Severe Eye Infection”

As a longtime fan, it’s heartening to see Elton John‘s unwavering resilience and determination in the face of adversity. From battling health issues like a severe eye infection and undergoing knee replacement surgery, to continuing his music career and sharing intimate moments through his upcoming documentary – he truly embodies the spirit of “never too late.”

Elton John has revealed his struggles with a severe infection that has affected his vision.

Hey fellow gamers! I just wanted to share some news – my favorite tunesmith has been battling an intense summer eye infection, which means he’s only got partial sight in one peeper. Let’s send positive vibes his way while he navigates through this challenging game level! #GamingLife

He shared that he’s gradually recovering, but the healing is happening very slowly, and it might be quite a while before his affected eye recovers its vision. John also thanked “the outstanding medical staff,” comprising doctors and nurses, as well as his family, who have provided him with exceptional care during the past few weeks.

“I’ve been peacefully recovering at home during the summer, and I feel optimistic about the advancements I’ve made in my healing process so far.”

Apart from his health issues this year, John has also undergone a knee replacement operation in January. His husband David Furnish had mentioned to The Sun back in March that John was doing exceptionally well and was set to undergo surgery on his other knee the same month. By summertime, John will have two completely new knees, according to Furnish’s statement.

Apart from providing a medical update, John has also revealed that his documentary titled “Elton John: Never Too Late” will debut on December 13th on Disney+. He expressed his excitement about the film on Instagram, stating it’s a unique journey through memories, music, and moments that have defined his life. Prior to its streaming release, the movie will make its world premiere at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival, which kicks off later this week. The documentary is said to include never-before-seen concert footage of John spanning his five-decade career, as well as hand-written journals and contemporary footage featuring him and his family.
