In light of previous social media posts that generated unfavorable attention, actress Karla Sofía Gascón, famously known as Emilia Pérez, is stirring up debate once more with her new movie titled The Life Lift. This upcoming film is directed by first-timer Stefania Rossella Grassi and features the often controversial Vincent Gallo. The plot revolves around Gascón portraying a psychiatrist who represents both divine and malevolent forces.
Today, Variety announced The Life Lift, a psychological thriller where actor Gallo plays Gabriel, a man residing in a small New York apartment. He’s tormented by cryptic Post-it notes found in the building’s elevator, hinting at his need to carry out gruesome murders of three other tenants, who in turn wish to eliminate their closest relatives. The storyline seems reminiscent of the series The X-Files.
According to Grassi, the movie titled “The Life Lift” is currently being developed and will cost approximately $3 million for production. Filming is expected to start towards the end of 2025 and run until February 2026. The film has been described as “disturbing, fiery, and captivating,” but a release date has not yet been announced. It’s also unclear how Gascón’s psychiatrist character will factor into the storyline, though it’s speculated that she may have some influence over Gallo’s character, Gabriel, who appears to be deeply troubled.
