As a long-time fan of Eminem, I can hardly contain my excitement for this year’s MTV VMAs! With his electrifying performance at the opening and eight nominations, it seems like Slim Shady is ready to dominate yet again.
2024’s got me pumped! I, Eminem, am gearing up for an epic opening at the MTV VMAs. It’ll be my debut live show, performing tracks from my brand new album, “The Death of Slim Shady,” on TV for the first time ever! Can’t wait to rock that stage!
This year, the rapper has been nominated for eight Video Music Awards (VMAs), among them being categories like ‘Video of the Year’, ‘Best Hip-Hop’, ‘Song of the Summer’, and ‘VMAs Most Iconic Performance’. His nominations are based on his medley performance of “Real Slim Shady” and “The Way I Am,” which featured over a hundred doppelgangers.
At the moment, Eminem shares the title of having the most Video Music Awards (VMA) victories by a solo male artist ever, with Peter Gabriel. If he takes home one award this year, he would surpass that record. Moreover, he currently boasts the most VMA wins for any rap artist, with 13 to his name, and is the second-most nominated artist in VMA history, having been recognized a total of 67 times. Madonna, with 71 nods, holds the top spot.
Eminem will be part of a star-studded lineup, featuring artists like Anitta (with Fat Joe, DJ Khaled and Tiago PZK), Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chappel Roan, GloRilla, Halsey, Karol G, Lenny Kravitz, Blackpink’s Lisa, LL Cool J, Rauw Alejandro, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes, Katy Perry (who received the Video Vanguard award), and Megan Thee Stallion as the host.
Speakers on this occasion will be Addison Rae, Alessandra Ambrosio, Amelia Dimoldenberg, Big Sean, Busta Rhymes, Carson Daly, Cyndi Lauper, Damiano David from Måneskin, DANNA, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Flavor Flav, French Montana, Halle Bailey, Jordan Chiles, Lil Nas X, Miranda Lambert, Naomi Scott, Paris Hilton, Suki Waterhouse, Thalía, and Tinashe.
In the 2024 VMA nominations, Taylor Swift has earned 12 nods, more than any other artist, with Post Malone close behind at 11 nods, Eminem with eight, and Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, SZA, and Carpenter each receiving seven. The awards ceremony, originally scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10, will now take place live from Long Island’s UBS Arena on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 8 p.m. ET, due to a shift in timing to accommodate the ABC presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
