As a longtime fan of Billy Crudup’s captivating performances, I couldn’t be more thrilled to witness his second Emmy win for The Morning Show! His heartfelt speeches and humble demeanor truly resonate with me, especially when he acknowledged the immense talent and support of his wife, Naomi Watts.
Last night, Billy Crudup bagged his second Emmy Award, thanks to his outstanding performance in Apple TV+’s series titled “The Morning Show“.
The 56-year-old actor stood on stage at the 2024 Emmys to receive the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and quickly paid tribute to his wife, fellow Emmy nominee Naomi Watts. “I’m fortunate to be surrounded by my gorgeous companion,” Crudup began his speech.
He went on to say, ‘My wife – an immigrant and a talented actress up for best performance in a limited series or anthology for her role in ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans’ – is not only a successful performer but also an entrepreneur. It’s truly rewarding to be with her.’
Following his victory, Crudup playfully responded to reporters’ question about him and Watts competing. “We have a bit of competition between us,” he quipped, “but more so in games like Scrabble.
Apart from expressing gratitude to his fellow cast members, Crudup also acknowledged and appreciated the writers and educators who enabled him to delve into writing beyond his usual capacity. He didn’t forget to thank those who worked tirelessly behind the scenes on the show, ending with a heartfelt farewell message to his colleagues. Kicking off his speech, he shared, “This experience has been truly remarkable for me. I want everyone else involved to know just how much this means to me.
Additionally, Crudup pointed out that his character and himself were quite different. “There’s no trace of ‘Billy’ within me,” he explained. “As you can observe, Billy is clumsy with his words and tends to perspire a lot.
Sunday night’s win marks the second for Crudup for his work on The Morning Show. The actor last won in 2020.
This year, I’m thrilled to be tuning into the 76th Emmy Awards, a star-studded event that’s being jointly hosted by the talented duo, Eugene and Dan Levy, live from the Peacock Theater in sunny Los Angeles! The magic unfolds between 5-8 p.m. Pacific Time or 8-11 p.m. Eastern Time. I can’t wait to catch all the glamorous red carpet moments as the stars walk in!
