‘English Teacher’ Renewed for Second Season on FX

FX will head back to class with English Teacher.

The cable channel owned by Disney has commissioned another season for the comedy show “English Teacher”, which was created and stars Brian Jordan Alvarez. This series, set in Austin, explores both the professional and personal life of Alvarez’s lead character. The second season is slated to premiere later in this year.

The English Teacher was hailed as one of the best new shows in 2024 by critics, and we are thankful to the producers, scriptwriters, actors, directors, and team behind the scenes for their outstanding creativity,” stated FX Entertainment president Nick Grad. “We eagerly anticipate the upcoming season.

Apart from Alvarez, the series also features Stephanie Koenig, Enrico Colantoni, Sean Patton, and Carmen Christopher as its main stars. Alongside Alvarez, Alvarez serves as an executive producer with Paul Simms, Jonathan Krisel, Dave King, Kathryn Dean, Jake Bender, and Zach Dunn. This production hails from FX Productions.

The position for an English Teacher is set to be filled approximately two months following accusations of sexual assault against Alvarez by Jon Ebeling. These allegations surfaced due to Ebeling’s work with Alvarez on a web series titled “The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo” in the mid-2010s. As reported in an article by Vulture, Ebeling claimed that Alvarez assaulted him during the filming of this series; however, Alvarez’s attorney has since denied these accusations.

Following the release of the “Vulture” article, FX released a statement saying they had previously examined the claims made by another news source before the series premiere. However, neither Mr. Ebeling nor his team contacted them with any issues or concerns. At present, they have no further comments to make.
