As a seasoned moviegoer with decades of cinematic adventures under my belt, I must say that Eric Dane‘s career trajectory is nothing short of fascinating. From playing the heartthrob on Grey’s Anatomy to portraying a troubled father in Euphoria and now as an estranged father in One Fast Move, it seems that life has taken him from kissing the girl to being the dad – quite literally!
In an interview during the premiere of his new movie titled “One Fast Move”, we chatted with Eric Dane who portrays a father estranged from an ex-convict motorcycle racer character played by KJ Apa (from Riverdale). Famous for his exceptional roles in ABC’s popular series Grey’s Anatomy and The Last Ship, as well as his recent appearances on Euphoria on HBO where he played a troubled father, Dane commented to MovieWeb that “I seem to be at an age where I play the dad role. Lately, I’ve been doing it quite often.” He added, “Perhaps the time has passed for audiences wanting to see me kiss the girl. Now, I’m just the dad figure.”
Shortly following whispers of a conflict between Zendaya and the show’s creator, it was revealed that Euphoria is indeed preparing for a third season. Dane didn’t hesitate to share his enthusiasm for continuing Cal’s storyline, expressing, “I’m so grateful that the show’s coming back.” Despite the focus on “One Fast Move,” he couldn’t help but add, “It’s great news that show’s coming back.” Additionally, Dane offered a sneak peek of what we might expect in season 3 from his perspective behind the scenes.
Things seemed to unfold quite rapidly, almost like a fast-paced action movie.
Eric Dane: ‘We Want to Watch Broken People Heal Themselves’
Transitioning to discuss his readiness for “One Fast Move,” Dane shared that he was already an avid motorcycle rider prior to this project and continues to ride occasionally. Therefore, he didn’t require additional preparation in this area. He was well-prepared for the filmmakers and crew. Dane praised their ability to accurately depict speed, noting that it’s simple to appear slow when faking it, but these professionals truly excelled at stunt riding. He further commended them by saying:
We had great stunt riders. We had amazing riders, but they did a great job capturing the speed. I think, in that regard, it’s a fun movie to watch if you […] want to see some of the action surrounding that world. They did a good job recreating it.

Beyond the sports component of One Fast Move, the complicated emotional connections between father and son fascinated Dane. “It was important for me to just sort of address the circumstances,” he said. “I really dug the dynamics between Dean and Wes. And for whatever reason, there’s a therapeutic element to it, but there’s also just a great story.” He continued:
“We aim for these characters to undergo a transformative journey that includes a chance for them to be redeemed within the storyline. It seems like we share this intention, not so much focusing on the Wes character, but more on the development of the Dean character. What’s captivating is witnessing how such redemption unfolds, which is always heartening.
As a long-time fan of heartfelt and thought-provoking films that delve deep into human emotions, I am thrilled to share my enthusiasm for “One Fast Move,” now streaming on Prime Video.
