Erykah Badu has revealed that her sixth studio album is officially on the way.
In a recent conversation, Billboard revealed that the Queen of Neo-Soul is collaborating with The Alchemist for her upcoming album, which serves as a follow-up to her “New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh”. This project marks 15 years since her last studio release. Although specifics about the record remain undisclosed, Badu did discuss her perspective on contemporary hip-hop, even though she’s not as deeply immersed in it as she once was. “What I appreciate about rap these days,” she shared, “is the same thing that attracted me to it initially.
She went on to say, “Rap, hip-hop – it’s all about the people, the community, the tribe. It’s like watching my own children grow up and thrive. I see these young artists coming of age, and I understand that they feel connected to the legacy.
Despite the fact that her latest album was released in 2010, Erykah Badu put out a mixtape titled But You Caint Use My Phone in 2015, featuring guest verses from ItsRoutine and André 3000.
