Situated in New Giza, Cairo, ESCĀ CUEVA is a cutting-edge restaurant boasting a sleek, cavernous design, created by Badie Architects – an esteemed Egyptian architecture firm recognized for its awards. Known for their impressive portfolio of residential and commercial projects that embody fluidity and dynamic freedom, this studio is instrumental in shaping Egypt’s innovative architectural landscape.
Mohamed Badie, the primary architect at our studio, is renowned for his visually captivating designs that artfully combine expressionism, casualism, and originalism in a unique fashion, guided by his core values and passion for experimenting with “physical freedom.” Much like other projects designed by Badie, ESCĀ CUEVA features this distinctive design style of his.
Influenced by natural shapes, the restaurant’s expansive, wavy contours are designed with human comfort in focus. Instead of a literal interpretation, it’s more like an extension of ideas, where the space dances poetically between its inhabitants and environment. The sculpted elements are carefully conceived using sophisticated 3D technology and software, serving as the structure’s external framework, or “skeleton.” A steel foundation lays the groundwork, upon which a double-layered mesh is installed, followed by a base coat and finally covered with stucco.
The restaurant is marketed as “a tranquil haven that merges nature’s beauty with culinary mastery within the depths of a desert cavern.” Lights are thoughtfully placed throughout the curving architecture, casting light on every nook and cranny while emphasizing the flowing shapes. Diners are treated to a breathtaking panorama of the city from this unique vantage point, all while being shielded from the urban bustle.
