Escape from Tarkov: How to unlock Cultist Circle & rewards explained

As a seasoned gamer who’s seen his fair share of grind and loot, I must say that the new Cultist Circle module in Escape from Tarkov has certainly piqued my interest! The process to unlock it wasn’t too daunting, but finding that elusive can of white salt had me scouring the map like a madman.

Gladly, I had quite a few of these items tucked away in my inventory, but acquiring the rest wasn’t cheap, given the high demand. The most elusive item by far is that can of white salt; it seems like I’ll have to rely mainly on random drops to get my hands on one.

In most cases, additional supplies are typically discovered during scavenging missions in sports bags and toolboxes – I personally think Interchange is an exceptional map for this purpose since it’s usually less busy and offers a considerable amount of loot, particularly towards its rear end. I’ve provided a specific route on our Interchange walkthrough guide, so if you’re having trouble locating any items, give that a try!

As a fellow enthusiast, I’d like to share a tip: Ensure you progress to Security Level 2 prior to gaining access to the Cultist Circle, a milestone that might take some time at the onset of a fresh wipe due to certain items being somewhat elusive.

If you own the Unheard Edition, you’ll automatically get the Cultist Circle constructed for you, which will save you a significant amount of time and resources in the future.

How do Cultist Circle rewards work?

The design of the Cultist Circle is intentionally unspecific, functioning on elements of chance and risk. You have the option to deposit up to five items into the Cultist Circle for sacrifice. Following this, you’ll receive a return – possibly equal in value – after a duration of three hours has elapsed.

Any rewards you receive will also carry the “found-in-raid” status, allowing you to utilize them in your upcoming quests.

It isn’t specified exactly what that limit is, but there’s a mechanism where if the total value of your sacrificed items exceeds a certain level, you stand a 25% chance of getting an item crucial for a current job or an unfinished area in your Hideout.

Based on my experiments, this threshold appears to adjust according to the specific Hideout and quest items you are currently pursuing. If you require an item for a quest that costs just 10,000₽, then sacrificing an equivalent value will increase your chances of obtaining it. Conversely, having a higher sacrifice value can yield more valuable hideout or quest items, making the risk well worth it.

With a substantial active sacrifice value, you could earn some exceptionally useful items. Leaving Medstation L3 unfinished might even lead to obtaining a coveted LED-X, which would undoubtedly aid in tackling several of Lightkeeper’s challenging duties.

It appears that the ‘worth’ of each item isn’t explicitly defined, but based on my assumption, it seems linked to its selling price at the Traders. Interestingly, some items are significantly more valuable when sold at a flea market rather than to the Trader, so I’d advise against trading them in.

I swapped a damaged LCD screen (approximately 13,545 rubles in value), and I received one NSPU-M (around 8,239 rubles), one Osovets (about 6,916 rubles), and one pack of Marlboro cigarettes (roughly 1,392 rubles). This equates to approximately 16,547 rubles when using Trader’s sale prices, which is slightly higher than what was initially invested.

Of course, flea market prices can fluctuate and go in your favour, but this isn’t too bad of a trade – especially as I got a quest item (Malboro) in return!

To enhance the total worth of your forfeited items, focus on enhancing your Hideout Administration ability and acquiring the Sacred Amulet, though it’s essential to note that this amulet is typically an end-game item that many players may not have access to in their early stages.

As a seasoned adventurer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve learned to appreciate the thrill of the unknown, but also the value of consistency when it comes to rewards. The Hideout Scav Case reminds me of those times when I never knew what I’d find, but the new system seems to offer a more predictable payoff – at least if you invest enough to start with. I’m confident that this will be a game-changer for me, especially when tackling intricate quests. It should save me plenty of time searching for elusive items with low spawn rates.
