Esha Deol recalls slapping man for ‘inappropriately’ touching her at Dus premiere: ‘I’m not hot tempered person…’

As a lifestyle expert and advocate for women’s empowerment, I wholeheartedly admire Esha Deol‘s courage and resilience. Her life experiences, particularly her encounter with eve-teasing during the premiere of Dus, serve as a powerful testament to her strength and determination. In a world where such incidents are all too common, Esha’s immediate action and unwavering spirit encourage women everywhere to stand up for themselves and not tolerate inappropriate behavior.

Remembering an unsettling incident at the 2005 premiere of Dus, I found myself in a situation where a man invaded my personal space and acted inappropriately, even with security present. In that moment, my instincts took over, and without hesitation, I swiftly removed him from the crowd and delivered a firm slap. I’m generally not one to lose my temper easily, but when someone crosses my boundaries, I can’t help but respond.

In an episode of The Male Feminist, Esha Deol spoke about a past experience where she was harassed, specifically a form of street harassment known as eve-teasing. This event occurred intolerable to her, and it happened in Pune during the opening night of the movie Dus, featuring Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Zayed Khan, and Abhishek Bachchan.

Under the twinkling stars, Esha navigated through the throng of people, even though a number of burly bouncers were guarding her. However, in spite of the security measures, a man from the crowd made an unwanted physical advance towards her. Instantly taking action, she seized his hand, led him away, and gave him a sharp slap. She clarified that her swift retaliation wasn’t characteristic of her usual temperament, but when someone oversteps her personal boundaries, she feels an impulse to defend herself.

Esha urged women to respond assertively when faced with such behavior and express their feelings openly. She stressed the significance of action in these instances, adding “It’s crucial for a woman to respond in such situations. Just because men may be physically more powerful doesn’t mean they have the right to exploit it. Moreover, I firmly believe that women possess greater emotional strength.

In 2012, Esha Deol, the child of renowned Bollywood stars Dharmendra and Hema Malini, got married to entrepreneur Bharat Takhtani. Together, they have welcomed two daughters named Radhya and Miraya into their family. Yet, in February 2024, they made an announcement that they were parting ways after 12 years of being married.

Professionally, Esha first entered Bollywood through the film “Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe.” Since then, she has been seen in movies like “Na Tum Jaano Na Hum,” “LOC: Kargil,” “Yuva,” “Dhoom,” “Kucch To Hai” and “Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa.” After achieving success with these films, she decided to pause her acting career to prioritize her family. Currently, it’s rumored that Esha is preparing for a comeback on the silver screen, with news of her upcoming project anticipated soon.
